INTRODUCTION TO SEWING
Sewing lines connect pattern pieces. All sewing functions are
performed and edited in the 2D Pattern window. Sewing lines will
appear in both 2D and 3D windows. Dotted lines and notches indicate
the sewing direction.

- Right-click on a sewing line and select Reverse Sewing from the
pop-up menu or use the shortcut Ctrl+B.

INTRODUCTION TO FABRICS
All materials exist within the Object Browser.
Fabrics also sit within the Object Browser and it is important to note
that fabrics in CLO are made up of two things — its physical property
and its 2D texture.
The physical property of a fabric relates to the physics of the fabric —
how it bends and stretches across a surface.
The 2D texture is a digital representation of the surface. This can be th
color, print, or weave.
ASSIGN FABRICS
To apply a Fabric to multiple patterns, select the desired pattern piec-
es with the Transform Pattern tool in the 2D or Select/Move tool in 3D,
then click on the Assign button in the Object Browser.
There are a variety of Fabrics available in the Library. Simply drag & drop them
onto patterns in either the 2D or 3D windows to apply them. To use multiple
Fabrics use the Add button in the Fabric tab in the Object Browser.
21
CLO Enterprise | Core 8
TEXTURE
Textures can be any 2D image file format. PNG is recommended as it
maintains any transparency that needs to be reflected in the Garment.
This is helpful for sheer fabrics, lace, or graphics. There are a few ways
to apply textures to Fabric:
- Drag & drop it onto the Fabric in the Object Browser
- Drag & drop it from a folder on your computer directly into a
Fabric in the Object Browser
- Go to the Property Editor and click on the icon in the Texture
menu
- Expand the Texture menu to Desaturate any images applied to
apply new colors
EDIT TEXTURE
There are two gizmos that appear when the Edit Texture tool is
selected:
- The Grainline Gizmo appears on patterns and allows the grainline
direction to be changed or the texture can be moved
- The Edit Texture Gizmo in top-right corner allows you to
transform, scale, and rotate the texture image
GRAPHIC (2D/3D)
Add graphics, logos, or embroidery details with the Graphic tool in
either the 2D or 3D window.
Any edits made to texture images can be refreshed as long as they are saved with
the same name and file location. This includes graphics/logos applied in Adobe
Illustrator (AI/PDF) file format. Right-click on the background of the 2D or 3D
window and select Refresh Textures from the pop-up menu or press F5.
HI-RES GARMENT
Applies optimal settings for a visually high quality garment. Simulation
speeds will be slow so use this when you are finished with the
Garment.
LOW-RES GARMENT
Applies optimal settings for building the Garment. Simulation speed
will be fast so use this when you are arranging, sewing, and draping
the Garment.
