A copy of this briefing must be left with the driver and a record of the briefing is passed to the Induction and Orientation Coordinator for
the site records.
The following site rules are mandatory whilst visiting the project
All delivery drivers must wear PPE if they leave the cab.
Mandatory PPE is:
 Safety Helmet
 High Visibility Jacket or Vest (Class 3)
 Safety Footwear (incorporating toe and mid-sole protection
and providing support to the ankle)
 Gloves (specific to the work activity)
 Light Eye Protection incorporating prescription lenses where
necessary
 No plant / vehicle movement can take place without the

presence of a Plant Vehicle Marshall (PVM)
 Wait at Hold Point Barriers until a PVM directs you to access
the work area
 Once past the hold point, plant and vehicles may only move
following the instruction of / under the control of a PVM
 There must be no reversing without the assistance of a PVM
 Where there are workforce on foot in the area, plant and
vehicles may only maneuver when directed by a PVM
 When you are reversing, the PVM must be visible to you at all
times by means other than CCTV. If at any point you are not
able to see the PVM using means other than the CCTV, you
must stop moving immediately and wait for the PVM to
reappear
When you climb down from your cab:
 you must not leave the vehicle unattended

 you must wear full PPE
 be constantly alert to other plant and vehicle movements and
to remain in ‘places of safety’ as much as possible i.e. don’t
stand behind vehicles or in traffic routes to chat or smoke
The hazards you need to be aware of on site that could affect you
are:
 Enter text
Do not drive with tipper body raised, dipper arm raised or Hi-Ab
arm extended
Drivers/Operators must switch off flashing beacons when safely

parked and switch to sidelights rather than headlights. This will
ensure that vehicles remain visible without causing glare. Drivers
must switch beacons and headlights back on before moving.

Delivery Drivers Orientation
No one will work from the back of a lorry or any other vehicle
unless there is suitable edge protection in place. If other forms of
fall protection are to be used, site must have been informed in
advance of the delivery to ensure that sufficient space is available.
The general site speed limit is 5mph You must not exceed this
limit at any time
Anyone operating a vehicle within a Vision-Built site boundary is

strictly prohibited from making or receiving telephone calls from a
hand-held or hands-free mobile phone. Drivers must park their
vehicle in a safe location and switch off the ignition before
making/receiving calls or sending/receiving texts
The following will result in immediate removal from site:

 Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs
 Reversing without a PVM
 Ignoring the Logistics/Traffic Management Plan set up or
altering signs/barriers
 Entering or leaving the site at any point other than the
designated points
 Speeding on-site
 The use of a mobile phone if not parked in a place of safety
with ignition off
 Defective safety critical equipment (mirrors, CCTV, lights,
beacons, reversing sounder).
