One day, Samosir ate the food meant for his father, causing Toba to violate the taboo and mention Samosir's fish heritage. His wife turned into a fish and caused a flood, drowning Toba. The flood formed Lake Toba, with an island called Samosir in the middle.

LEGEND OF LAKE TOBA

In a valley of north Sumatra there lived a young man named Toba. One day he went fishing in the
river. For a long time he waited for a fish to finally pull the bait. Wow, it must be a big fish, Toba.
Toba also brought the fish home to cook.
When he arrived at Toba's house, he was disappointed that the firewood was not there.
No firewood here I'd better look for firewood now
When the firewood fire was already burning Toba tried to take the fish how surprised he was when
he saw that the fish did not exist but gold money to pieces.

instantly became a fish again. Toba who worked in the pepperng drowned in the flood .soon the
flood inundated the entire valley and left only the hilltops in the hills that Samosir hides That is why
the lake is named lake Toba and the island in the middle is called Samosir.
