“Above all we have to beyond words and images and concept. No imaginative vision or conceptual
framework is adequate to the great reality.” Bede Griffitles.Reality is the state of things as they actually
exist,as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them.
Conceptual framework plays an important role in every research study. This is where the
researchers defend and justify their hypotheses and variables. This gives further details about conceptual
framework and teaches how to create and write a conceptual framework.
In our contemporary times, most social phenomena are complex and linked to multiple bodies of
knowledge that belong to different disciplines. For this reason, better undertaking of such phenomena
requires a multidisciplinary approach.
A concept is an abstract ideas or general notions that occur in the mind,in speech or in thought. They are
understood to be the fundamental building blocks of thoughts and beliefs.
There are several inputs whish are essentials when working on a conceptual framework. The two main
elements are:
1. Experiential Knowledge:technical knowledge, research background and personal experience.
2. Literature Review:related theory, related research and other theories and research related to the
topic.
The Key Steps for the Development of the Conceptual Framework Are:
1. Identify the key variables used in the subject area of the study.
2. Draw out key variables within something you have already written about the subject area i.e.
literature review.
3. Perennial to the aim, segregate them as dependent and independent variables.
4. Take one key variable and then brainstorm all the possible things related to the key variable.
5. After all the variables have been defined, focus on the number of relaationship between variables
they can form with each other to determine the inter relationships between all.
6. The arrows used to identify the relationships between variables must be applied in the directions
as to what impacts the other.
7. Always keep in mind that the formation of conceptual framwork directs the researcher to apply a
suitable test for analysis.
The conceptual framework (or “concept statements”)is a body of interrelated objectives and
fundamentals. The objectives identity the goals and purposes of financial reporting and fundamentalss
are underlying concepts that help achieve those objectives.
a. Manifest Variables- these are variables which can be readily measured. They are observable
variables like the demographic profile of the respondents and thus will need only one question
to measure the said variables.Age,accupation, temperature and amount of fertilizer are some
examples of manifest variables.
b. Latent Variables-these variables can not be readily measured by a single question. There are
several indicators of a latent variable and there is aneed to ask several questions before one can
measure it.Happiness, job satisfaction, attitude and perceptions are some examples of latent
variables. It is represented by an oval in the conceptual framework.
SUMMARY and CONCLUSION:
The conceptual framework is a tentative theory regarding the topic under investigation usually
shown in a diagram. It explains the hypothesized relationships among the variables thus making it
easy to understand the arguments advanced by the study.Conceptual framework analysis offers
procedure of theorization for building conceptual frameworks based on grounded theory method. The
advantages of conceptual framework analysis are its flexibility its capacity for modification and its
emphasis on understanding instead of prediction.
