Research at least 10 career choices in agriculture and explain what they do this
assignment values 10 marks.

Agronomists

Agronomists are scientists who specialize in crop production, soil control, and
soil management. They try to find ways to maximize crop production from a
given acreage of soil. They also perform experiments to determine and then
maximize plant nutrients and soil health.

Animal Nutritionist

They Consider the varied nutritional needs of different species as they


formulate balanced food rations. Assess nutritional and caloric requirements
based on an animal’s condition and type of physical activity such as
performance, reproduction, lactation or overcoming nutritional deficiencies in
cases of prior neglect.

Animal physiologist

An animal physiologist is a scientist who studies natural factors, such as


dietary nutrition, stress, birthing methods, sanitation, exercise, and temperature,
that affect the health and development of animals.

climatologist

A climatologist analyzes climate patterns to provide an understanding of the


conditions of a particular area and help the citizens of that area adapt to their
surroundings.

Ecologist

Ecologists study the relationships of organisms and their environment. In


addition to their research, they gather data and analyse it for importance. They
study environmental problems and determine what caused them and how to
improve the situation.

extension officers

Agricultural extension officers are intermediaries between research and farmers.


They operate as facilitators and communicators, helping farmers in their
decision-making and ensuring that appropriate knowledge is implemented to
obtain the best results about sustainable production and general rural
development.

hydrologist

A hydrologist is a scientist who researches the distribution, circulation, and


physical properties of the earth's underground and surface waters. They help
environmental and other scientists preserve and clean up the environment, as
well as search for groundwater.

Range managers

Range managers also called range conservationists, protect rangelands to


maximize their use without damaging the environment. Range managers may
inventory soils, plants, and animals, develop resource management plans, help
to restore degraded ecosystems.

Remote sensing specialists

Remote sensing specialists interpret and analyse many types of aerial


photographs and satellite images. They may use colour infrared photos to map
forest types or areas of irrigated cropland, or to determine areas of insect or
disease infestation in forests or croplands.

Viticulturist
A viticulturist specializes in the cultivation or culture of grapes, especially for
winemaking. Viticulturists with advanced degrees are often found in
universities and in the horticulture industry in research, teaching, and extension
positions, developing, breeding, and evaluating new varieties of grapes.
