Feminist Analysis of The Awakening In The Awakening, Kate Chopin creates a
protagonist that clearly demonstrates a feminist. The protagonist, Edna Pontellier seeks
more from life than what she is living and starts to refuse the standards of the society
she lives in. Edna has many moments of awakening resulting in creating a new person
for herself. She starts to see the life of freedom and individuality she wants to live. The
Awakening encourages feminism as a way for women to obtain freedom and choose
individuality over conformity. Chopin creates a feminist story that shows a
transformation from an obedient mother woman to a woman who is willing to sacrifice
her old life to become independent and make an identity for herself. As the novel
begins we are shown Edna s life before her escape from society s standards. At the
beginning we are shown that Edna is valued by society because of her physical

to tolerate. Some of these people feel that they need to correct their flaws immediately.
Individuals who feel a traditional diet program is too difficult or lengthy often opt for a
gastric bypass, which surgically reduces the size of the stomach. However, those who
elect to have this procedure are often shunned by thin individuals who imply that this
surgery is an effortless escape from morbid obesity. On the contrary, as will be discussed

headache clinic enrolled a prospective before and after therapeutic study during 2010
2013. Fourty mg Metylprednisolone was divided in four subcutaneous injection doses.

cervicocranial junction and two injections were performed in lower medial frontal area
exactly at medial right and left eye brow limit. A headache daily was filled out by the
patient before and one month after intervention. The severity of pain was classified based
on the Pain Intensity Instrument, using a 0 to 10 point numeric rating scale. Paired t test
and Chi square served for statistical analysis.
Results: 504 patients (378 females, 126 males) with migrainous chronic daily headache
underwent the study. Dramatic, significant, moderate and mild or no improvement
constituted 28.6%, 33.3%, 23.8%, and 14.3% of the post treatment courses respectively.
Therapeutic effect of intervention on mean pain scores was significant; t=7.38, df=20,
p=.000. Two cases developed subcutaneous fat atrophy in frontal injection site and 3
cases experienced syncope during injection.

Ethnography is a research method that includes cultures and customs. The way people
interact with one another varies from person to person or group to group. The
interactions between people tell a great deal about their feelings towards a person. Body
language, tone of voice, vocabulary, and the way a person carries themself reveals much
deeper information than just when words are exchanged. For this project I am going to
research the difference between family dinners and roommate dinners (home away from
home). Many people who attend college have heard the phrase or expression a home
away from home or some variation of this. This phrase was researched through using an
actual family and a family of four teenage girls who currently live together off campus at
Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The dynamic of two different families led
to several different findings throughout the ethnographic research. There was an expected
power dynamic between the actual family, but a very unexpected power dynamic
between the four roommates. The concept of power was then further researched
throughout this project to draw conclusions about men, women, rapport talk, and report
talk.
This ethnography research was proposed based off readings from the authors of Tannen
and Kiesling. Tannen discusses the differences between the way men and women
communicate with one another. During this ethnography project, there was one situation
