Rape And Murder Of Dawn Hamilton
Around midnight on August 9th, 1984, police officers pounded on Kirk Bloodsworth s
door and arrested him for the rape and murder of Dawn Hamilton, a 9 year old girl. At
trial, though there was absolutely no physical evidence against him, five eyewitnesses
identified him. After the jury deliberated, for fewer than three hours, he was sentenced to
death row (Junkin).
It may have seemed like a clear verdict, but nine years later, he was found innocent and
pardoned, the first man ever to be released from death row. Nine years later, he
describes his time in prison as Hell on Earth (Bloodsworth). Nine years later, he faces a
system in which his case is but one of the numerous wrongful convictions that take place
or have taken place in this country. Ladies and gentlemen, nine years later, wrongful
convictions are absolutely a problem in the United States, one that, every day, costs
innocent people their freedom.
To date, since 1989, there have been over 1700 exonerations, or convicts proven
innocent, in the United States ( The National Registry of Exonerations ). Recently, there
s been about 10 a month (Pelley). A 2014 study conducted by the National Academy of
Sciences claims that 4.1% of people sentenced to death are innocent. It goes on to state
that: With an error rate at trial over 4%, it is all but certain that several of the 1,320
defendants executed since 1977 were innocent. Furthermore, because capital cases are
examined more thoroughly than others, the error rate is

It could be the indoor regulator. In the event that the issue is with the indoor regulator,
you re fortunate that is typically a much less expensive fix than the heater.
Once you ve affirmed that the heater is not the issue, there are a few things you can do
to investigate all alone before calling a repairman. On the off chance that those don t
work, then it s an ideal opportunity to enlist a jack of all trades or HVAC expert to
repair or supplant the gadget.(Kompareit.com, 2016)
Broken indoor regulator can bring about amazing temperature swings, a heater that cycles
on and off too oftentimes or a heater that does not create heat. To see whether the indoor
regulator is the issue, swing it to the inverse setting (in case you re utilizing the warmth,
turn the indoor regulator the distance to cool) or simply turn the temperature far up. On
the off chance that nothing happens following a couple of minutes, the indoor regulator
is broken or defective. (Home Guides | SF Gate, 2016)
Step 3 Construct hypothesis: open the thermostat and clean and check wires and
connections.
Step 4 Test with an experiment: Remove the thermostat cover and (carefully!) clean the
components with a small paintbrush. Sometimes a thermostat won t work simply
because it s dusty.
Step 5 Analyze and report results: So after opening the thermostat I see that s it s very
dusty in there and there are some dust mites at the ends where the signal transmits to the
furnace so I clean it with a
European Castles Research Paper
It seems as if castles have been around forever, but they first types of castles were built
between the 11th and 15th centuries in France, Ireland, and England. These castles were
called Motte and Bailey. Motte and Bailey castles consisted of a tower on top of a man
made hill with a fence and a ditch around the outside, sometimes with water. The name
moat for the water surrounding the castlecomes from Motte. This was the most popular
type of castle in all of Europe, except for Scandinavia. These castles protected from small
attacks. Over the years, castles on the mainland of Europe became more sophisticated,
while these remained the primary style in England, Wales, and Ireland. The motte is the
mound of land that the tower sits on and it can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a last defense, there is another drawbridge that can be put up to seperate the tower
on top of the motte, if attackers get into the bailey. Also there were stables for horses
and cattle, a chapel, small huts for the people, and some shops for merchants. Later
on, these castles evolved into Concentric Circle castles. A simple description of these
would be a castle within a castle. These consist of many buildings, walls, towers, and
gatehouses. The main tower was called a Keep and that is where the Lord and his
family lived. The Keep was the strongest part of the castle and it was located in the
center and it was usually a round shape. There was a high wall that surrounded the
Keep and the innermost bailey and there was another wall that surrounded that one.
Along with that, there were many outer walls and baileys inside Concentric Circle
castles with many gatehouses as the first line of defense. And finally the outermost line
of defense was a moat. The walls were also significantly thicker that in Motte and
Bailey Castles and there were obviously more of them. With all of these added defenses,
the price of these castles increased, with today s inflation it would be an estimated $40

Bookstore Cafe Ethnographic Observation Essay
TITLE: OBSERVATION AT A POPULAR BOOKSTORE CAFÉ Over the past few
years, commercial spaces have become areas for multifunction activities. Along with
the availability of gourmet coffee, food, ample seating, and free WIFI bookstore cafes
have welcomed a clientele that blends leisure, social and work related activities. In this
context, a local popular Barnes and Noble bookstore cafe served as the perfect
environment to perform a field observation for this assignment and to explore customer
behaviors and reasons for patronizing this particular establishment. Nestled in a busy

Patrons like myself stood in line scanning the café for empty tables and available seats.
The arrangement of the tables in this area allowed for more seating flexibility and
appeared to lower social boundaries between customers while encouraging interaction
between members of cliques and individual patrons. Armed with my laptop and
cappuccino, my observations occurred from an empty table in the center of the café. I
felt at ease in this setting, as there were many more customers like myself, sitting alone
reading, typing away on their laptops, writing in yellow pads or studying. Being in
plain sight in a public environment, I assumed the role of a participant observer
despite feeling a little unsure about the landscape of this assignment and insecure
about my field note taking capabilities. As I settled in, I spotted a few neighboring
customers who were about to get comfortable in their seats. A young man sitting
nearby with his laptop cover still closed, stated, I come here quite often. WIFI is free,
the service is great, I plug my earphones and in an hour I get a lot more work done here
than at home with the kids . Another regular customer stated, This is where people come
in between shopping, or like myself to get some work done after running some errands .
When I asked a few customers about policies regarding reading printed material without
purchasing them, and if there were any time limits for occupying the tables, I learned
about a
