Procedure For Drawing Number Generation

To generate drawing numbers, users must use the standalone "Nomenclature System Reservations" tool. This tool allows users to reserve drawing numbers by selecting the appropriate work folder, category, and clicking "Reserve." Numbers are then displayed and can be copied to the clipboard. It is important that users click "OK" to finalize reservations and avoid clicking "Cancel," which can undo reservations. The tool allows reserving multiple numbers at once before confirming. How to generate drawing numbers

1. Background
The transition from proALPHA does not include the generation of drawing numbers. Drawing numbers are
generated in the nomenclature system. Until the new vault is approved, drawing numbers are generated with
the “standalone tool”. As before, they are edited in the current vault or “enaio”.

2. How to proceed
2.1. “Nomenclature System Reservations” standalone tool
1. General information
1.1. Open the application with the “IBS Nomenclature System 2019” shortcut on your desktop (see
Figure 1)

1.2. When first starting, the server login dialog appears (see Figure 2)

“User name” is “Firstname.Surname”


- lower case
- for longer names, use initials of first name
“Password” is “Acad”

1.3. Click “Log in” to confirm
1.4. The Nomenclature dialog appears (see Figure 2 and Table 1)

Area name Purpose
1. Vault Login area for the vault server
2. Dialog mode Choose file type: Drawing / Model
3. Display language Select the display language for the category tree
4.1 Work folder Displays the work folders (depends on write permissions)
4.2 Category tree Select the category for the number to be generated
5. Drawing type / Choose between new or associated drawings / models
model type
6. Drawing association / Select sheets or components
model association
7. Reserve / Approve

8. Reservations Displays reserved numbers
9 File and path information Number information such as:
• Local storage path
• Vault storage path
• File name (completed by selecting the file format)
o for a model: “.iam”, “.ipt”, “.dwg”, “.ipn”, “.xls”
o for a drawing: “.idw”, “.dwg”
Select “To clipboard” to copy them to the clipboard for the respective area
10. OK / Cancel
buttons Click “OK” to reserve the number
Click “Cancel” to cancel the process

1.5. Depending on the department, the following folders (4.1) are shown:
➢ GPSE (TEE) and GPI staff responsible for the TEE department will see
the TEE-Layout, TEE-Machines and Purchased Parts folders
➢ GPSE (TED&TEI) and GPI staff responsible for the TED department will see the
TED-Machines, TED-Master and Purchased Parts folders

2.2. Description based on reserving a drawing number for TED


2. Reserving a drawing number for Inventor/AutoCad
2.1. Select the “TED-Machines” work folder (4.1)
2.2. In the category tree, select the required category (4.2)
2.3. In “Dialog mode” → select Drawing (2)
2.4. In “Drawing type” → select New drawing (5)
2.5. Click “Reserve” to reserve a number (7)
2.6. An individual drawing number must be created – click “OK” to confirm (10)

2.7. !!!ATTENTION!!! Clicking “Cancel” undoes the drawing reservation.


2.8. Create a drawing with the drawing number as before.
2.9. If required, enter the drawing number in proALPHA (see proALPHA training documents)

2.10. To generate multiple numbers without having to repeatedly open the dialog, after step 2.5 proceed
as follows:
2.11. Repeat steps 2.1 to 2.5 until you have all the drawing numbers you need
2.12. Click “OK” to confirm (please note the information in point 2.7)
2.13. Create a drawing with the drawing number as before.
2.14. If required, enter the drawing number in proALPHA (see proALPHA training documents)
