If Isaiah 53 Is Taken in Its Context
If Isaiah 53 Is Taken in Its Context
If Isaiah 53 Is Taken in Its Context
If Isaiah 53 is taken in its context, there was no indication or hint that Christ suffered the second death or
experienced hellfire. The key to look is in v.9 saying "And he made his grave with the wicked..." It's about
the grave and not hellfire as some is saying. Now, the 'soul' of man functions as life. Christ is a living soul
of course and he has his body and spirit as well. For Christ to redeem us, he would experience physical
pain and death on the cross. The obvious result is to put him in the grave, never a hell-fire. Concerning
his soul, may mean his emotions suffered a painful ordeal bearing our iniquities. In Isaiah 53: 4-5 deals
that Christ as Christ may experience despising and rejection of men, he was a man of sorrows and griefs.
When did that happened, it starts bearing our sins at Calvary and ended in there, so that Christ says “It is
Finished!” hindi na need ni Christ to go to hell-fire. To believe such is indeed a heresy, a divisive and “an
enemy of the cross of Christ” Phil. 4:18
Yes Christ have labored with pain or an emotional pain but not in hellfire. The ‘labor’ speak of his
vicarious suffering leading to his death at the cross of Calvary. Additionally, the emotional pain was
caused by sorrow and rejection of men and connected with going down to the grave. This is seen in
Isaiah 54:4-5, 9. To insist that Christ did suffer from hellfire is hilarious and unbiblical. It is an only a
stretch of imagination.
Psalms 116:3 the pains of hell is never to be equated with suffering in hell which is totally different. Take
note that the Bible says “of” which is different from the word “in”. The scripture of truth does not say
“pains IN hell”.
Acts 2:24 , 27, 31- The context speaks more of the flesh, the body that will be corrupted or be decayed,
although that is not possible for the Lord because he will be raised up from the dead. The following then
may point to the understanding about the passages:
1. Acts 2:25, speaks of David’s face and right hand (part of the body, flesh)
2. Acts 2:26, speaks of David’s heart, his tongue, his flesh.
3. Acts 2:27, speaks of corruption. The body is corrupted but not the soul. Now it says also of “soul
in hell”
4. Acts 2:29, the sepulchre speaks of the tomb where the body of the dead is placed.
5. Acts 2:30, speaks of “according to the flesh” then “left in hell”
6. Acts 2:31, his flesh did see corruption.
Now, obviously, the soul was mentioned in the given passages as “my soul in hell” as in the case
of v.27 and “left in hell” in verse 31.
7. We have to note that any word in the English Bible with plurality of meaning will always be
dependent on its context to determine its meaning. The word “hell” in the light of context,
meant to be the grave or sepulchre not the hellfire.
8. The pains of death means, the pain of his flesh while carrying the cross and sin as he will
experienced physical and emotional pain unto death
9. So, we conclude that on the basis of its context Christ did not suffered the second death in
hellfire.
Introduction 2.1
This is a thorough Greek word study about the Greek word ᾅδης, 'hades'
meaning 'Hades' or 'the grave' (Strong's 86). It gives every verse where the
word 'hades' appears in the New Testament. To obtain a true understanding of
this word these scriptures need to be meditated on and notes made of their
meaning in different contexts. This requires putting scriptures together where
they seem to have a similar meaning, and then meditating even more. The truth
will be revealed by the Holy Spirit, who has been given to guide us into all truth
(John 16:13). Wherever this word hades appears in the Greek, the translation of
it is highlighted with yellow. In Greek the suffixes and some prepositions are
not added to the basic word to enhance the meaning, except for case endings, so
the associated suffix or preposition has not been included in highlighted text.
Every blessing be to those who seek the truth of God's word.
Luke 10:15 And you, Capernaum, who is exalted to heaven, shall be thrust
down to Hades.
16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels
into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
16:23 And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and sees Abraham
afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Acts 2:27 Because you will not leave my soul in Hades, nor will you suffer
your Holy One to see corruption.
2:31 He, seeing this before, spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was
not left in Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.
1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but
we shall all be changed,
15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on
immortality.
15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal
shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is
written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
15:55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?
Revelation 1:18 I am he who lives, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the keys of Hades and of death.
6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was
Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over the
fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and
with the beasts of the earth.
20:13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it; and death
and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them: and they were judged every
man according to their works.
20:14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second
death.

Mark 9:43 And if your hand offends you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter
into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never
shall be quenched:
9:44 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
9:45 And if your foot offends you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter into life
lame, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be
quenched:
9:46 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
9:47 And if your eye offends you, pluck it out: it is better for you to enter into
the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
9:48 Where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
Luke 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear him, who after he
has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear him.
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among
our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of
nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
