The Piasecki (Vertol) H-21 was a utility helicopter produced from 1947 to 1959. Over 600 were built and it served with the US military as well as forces in Canada, France, Japan, Sweden, and West Germany. Key variants included the H-21A Workhorse, H-21B Workhorse, and H-21C Shawnee which were used for cargo and troop transport missions. The H-21 established itself as a versatile and dependable "workhorse" helicopter during its service life from 1948 to 1965.
