The 3 Ds
u
An operating system release that should showcase Microsofts trustworthy computing initiative. Microsoft has spent a lot of money developing code to stem the tide of successful hacks of their operating systems. This new initiative is intended to make 2003 comply with the 3-Ds; secure by design, secure by default, and secure in deployment.
give Microsoft a separate platform to deploy their new hacker resistant web server. IIS has historically been the more unstable and most often hacked piece of code. With the release of 2003, a new and separate version of the operating system is available specifically for web publishing

64 bit code
uA
new release for the inclusion of the new 64 bit code. The advanced server and the datacenter server come in 32 and 64 bit versions
NT4 conversions
u
A platform for a few but very large NT 4 deployments that have been reluctant to migrate due to limits in group memberships and limitation found in previous conversion tools. Groups may now have over 5000 accounts and the new ADMT migration tool is an improvement over previous methods.
7
An operating system to tighten the rules that application programs must follow to operate successfully. One estimate, by a Microsoft kernel developer, was that only 60 percent of the NT4 application programs would run on 2003. For example, neither SQL 7 nor Exchange 2000 will run on windows server 2003.
