• Write the following phrases on the board:

• Ask students to say whether the adjectives in
exercise 1 are positive or(artistic, helpful,
athletic, optimistic, beautiful, careful, thoughtful,
cheerful, wonderful, energetic) or negative
(pessimistic, forgetful). Write the words under
the headings as students say them correctly.

Warm up!
Aim: to further develop students' ability to use
adjectives
• Write the following words on the board:
ON THE BOARD
I think I'm quite... I'm not very....
• Ask students to look at the words in exercise 1.
Ask each student to describe themselves using the
phrases on the board and the words in exercise 1,
eg I think I'm quite sociable but I'm not very CD
trendy.
Ask students to look again at the adjectives in CD
exercise 1 and to predict what someone might say
if they're describing someone with each of these
characteristics, eg, generous: He/She always CD
gives presents., athletic: He/She's is in the school
football team., etc. • Explain to students that they
are going to listen to six teenagers talking.
Explain to students that they will write an
adjective in the gap to describe the person that
each speaker is talking about and that some of the
adjectives won't be used. Play the CD track once
all the way through. • Check answers orally.
Encourage students to justify their answers.
