    Sunovad® 440HA Edition 01-2024

    Sunovad® 440HA is an exceptionally efficient, low-viscosity dispersants intended for water-based coating applications.

    Chemically: solution of an ammonium salt of an acrylic polymer in water.

    APPLICATIONS

    Sunovad® 440HA serves as an excellent dispersant for a broad spectrum of water-based coatings, usable directly from the container.
    Formulated from an organic polymer, it enhances the longevity of both pigment dispersion and final paint products compared to
    traditional inorganic dispersants like polyphosphate variants. During drying, Sunovad® 440HA emits ammonia, resulting in minimal
    effects on the water and alkali resistance of the dry coating. To ensure optimal performance, it is recommended to utilize Sunovad®
    440HA within a pH range of 5 to 10.5 and at temperatures below 70°C (158°F) to prevent potential loss of volatile ammonia.

    SPECIFIC PROPERTIES
    Sunovad® 440HA should be added under stirring before adding pigments or fillers to the grind. In general, the pH of the final
    preparation should be in the region of 8.5 to obtain optimum dispersing efficiency. The optimum amount of dispersing agent required
    to form a stable dispersion strongly depends on the pigment’s chemical nature, the particle surface and shape. The polymer base of the
    latex also plays a very important role. In general, underdosing of the dispersing agent will lead to insufficient stability of the pigment
    dispersions. Likewise to other dispersing agents the formulator should apply 1.5 – 2.0 times the determined optimum level of
    dispersing agent to avoid storage problems. Recommended dose: 0.5% - 2% on total pigment weight.

    PACKAGING
    Sunovad® 440HA is available in bulk and in IBC's, 160kg, 150kg, 125 Kg or 50 Kg drums.

    STORAGE
    Sunovad® 440HA is freeze-thaw stable however, it should be stored at temperatures above 5 °C (41°F) to allow easy handling. The shelf
    life time is 12 months from date of production.
