    1 What is the meaning of POCT?


    Point of care test.
    The term used to describe laboratory testing performed usually by the non-
    lab staff- mainly medical and nursing staff- outside the main lab.

    4 Why do we need to keep the glucometer in the docking station?


    To keep the meter to remain fully charged
    To transmit the data
    5 Normal capillary blood volume required to analyze glucose on Glucometer
    is 1.2 μL.

    Normal capillary specimen volume required to analyze β-ketone on Glucometers


    6 is 0.6 μL.

    7 The glucose test result displays after 6 seconds in glucometer

    19 How do you disinfect the glucometer?

    By using Caviwipe Metrix

    20 What are the actions to be taken if quality control reading falls out of
    acceptable ranges?
    Recheck using proper technique and confirm. If still out of range inform unit
    in-charge and biochemistry for further assistance.

    21 When do we need to do Glucometer Quality Control Test?

    "If Glucometer is in use on daily basis:


    **Once in 24 hours, run 2 different levels (High / Low) of the control
    solutions.
    **If Glucometer is not used for more than 24hrs; glucometer will be
    automatically locked. To unlock the glucometer prior to testing any patient
    specimen, run 2 different levels (High / Low) of the control solutions.
    **And under the following circumstances:
    1. If the QC result is out of range OR within borderline
    2.When opening a new box of strips-with a new lot number
    3.If the meter has been dropped
    4.Whenever there is doubt about the performance or the result
    5.When changing the battery
    22 Who validates the QC Check data?
    It is monitored centrally and lab staff will do.

    23 How to store Insulin?


    Unopened vials in fridge
    Opened vials in High alert cabinet

    24 Hypoglycemia
     Hypoglycemia protocol available
     Hypoglycemia Algorithm is available
     Hypoglycemia- Blood sugar below 70 mg/dl or if patient is
    symptomatic
     Mild, moderate and severe hypoglycemia
     We use hypo-box items to correct the hypoglycemia
    25 DKA
    We follow DKA pathway
