Ans- The computers on the internet communicate with each other using the transmission control protocol/Internet protocol where TCP/IP is the language a computer uses to access internet. 2. What do you know about hypertext? Ans- Hypertext is the text used to link various web pages. It is the text on the web page clicking on which opens a new web page. It can include graphics, video and sound. Ted Nelson introduced the term hypertext around 1965. 3. Explain the term URL. What is the use of it? Ans- URL stands for uniform resource locator. It provides a way to locate a resource on the web. The URL contains the name of the protocol to be used to access the resource and a resource name. Uses of URL are- 1. It is used to identify the web resources on WWW 2. It is used point to a web page, a component of a web page or a program on a website
4. What do you understand by streaming media?
Ans- Streaming media is the method used to deliver multimedia elements - usually video or audio - from a data streaming service provider to an end user. With streaming media, audio or video files are played as they are downloading. Only a small wait is called buffering is necessary before the file begins to play. 5. Define the term real-time communication. Ans- In real time communication- text, audio and video communication can happen in real time on the web. These capabilities allow people to conference and collaborate in real time. The real time communication tools include- i) Chat- Text message in real time ii) Audio- Conduct a telephonic conversation on web iii) Video-View your audience iv) File transfer- Send files back and forth among participants v) Document/application sharing- View and use a program on another’s desktop machine 6. What is skype? Mention any two basic requirements to use this software. Ans- Skype is one of the most popular applications or voice over internet protocol (VOIP) services. It allows to do instant messaging and make voice and video calls to fellow skype users on the internet for free. Two basic requirements to use this software are- 1. High speed internet connection 2. A webcam is needed to make video calls
7. What do you understand by a blog? Explain its uses.
Ans- A blog is an easy to create web site that allows users to share their thoughts or ideas with the world. The word blog comes from ‘weblog’- it consists of a signed and dated log of individual postings. The topic of the blog may be personal or professional. Blogging can be an interactive activity. Readers can add comments to a blogger’s postings, other persons can respond and perform conversation. Uses of blog- 1. Blogs came into existence as a way for individuals to express themselves online 2. Offering their thoughts and opinions 3. Interact with readers on different fields 4. Building a community C.
