Phaser/1000 Series (6 cylinder) 2 Supplement 1

Change of oil cooler pipes October 1989

The oil cooler pipes of 6 cylinder Phaser and 1000

Series engines have been changed.
The latest pipes have an improved braid that is fitted
by machine. The changes are shown below.
Oil cooler pipes

Early New
3587T003 3587T004
3588H002 3588H001

Note: There is no need to change the setscrews

when the latest pipes are fitted.
The 3588H001 pipes are only used on engines with
the filler for the lubricating oil fitted to the left side of
the cylinder block.
These changes were from engine number
YB-----U507970T.
Oil cooler pipes, part number 3587T004, can be used
instead of oil cooler pipes, part number 3588H002, if
the filler for the lubricating oil is not fitted to the left
side of the cylinder block. For this change longer
setscrews will be necessary.
The setscrew requirement will be as for 3587T003
pipes shown in Service Bulletin Number 2 except for
setscrew part number 2314H009. This setscrew has
been changed to part number 2314K159 which is the
same length, but has more thread. Either setscrew
can be used.

Notes:
z Ensure that the braid of the oil cooler pipes is not
damaged as oil leakage could occur.
z Ensure that the braid of the pipes does not touch
other engine components when the oil cooler
pipes have been fitted.
