1. A professional teacher can be described as someone who is qualified in their teaching career by
being a committed and dedicated person in their job, which provides students with excellent
teaching methods and being able to ensure all students are able to cope even on them being on
different levels of understanding. They are role models to their students by motivating and
encouraging them to achieve their goals and inspiring them. A professional teacher can also be
described as being patient and attentive with their learners.
2. Scenario 1
Not a professional manner
Reason 1: Mrs Karateka was not supposed to demonstrate these defensive strategies during
school hours as she supposed to be teaching during this time. It was also very dangerous and
they could have lost their lives if they were performed in the wrong way. This was very
unprofessional.
Reason 2: She acted in an unprofessional manner as she demonstrated these strategies on her
students without the parents consent and their supervision. Some even sustained injuries which
could have been fatal. She was irresponsible as one student even passed out.
Scenario 2
Not a professional manner
Reason 1: The teacher acted in an unprofessional manner as she falsely accused a grade 1
student of clogging the toilet without first enquiring if she did it or not. Even if the learner did
clog the toilet she took matters in her own hands and did not consult the school principal of the
situation that happen which was supposed to be addressed first before any decision was made,
she should not have punished her in such an embarrassing way.
Reason 2: The teacher ordered the very young student (6/7 years old) to put her bare hands in a
public toilet and pick up her waste along with the toilet paper, this was unhygienic and
traumatizing for the child. She made her perform under age domestic cleaning for the school
which is illegal and the school principal and the teacher could get in trouble for such behavior.
Scenario 3
Not a professional manner
Reason 1: Mr. Excitement acted in an unprofessional manner as he worked with ‘special need
learners’ and they needed special attention and care which he did not provide as he risked their
lives during extracurricular activities. He risked the lives of his students by deciding to transport
them on his own without consulting their parents or enquiring further if the school transport
could fetch them.
