To Keep “ROTANODE" Well for a Long Time

In order to use "ROTANODE" for a long time, the seasoning before every day's start, adjust the tube
current and the cooling after every day's finish are recommendable.

Seasoning
1. When "ROTANODE" is used first after the instllation or after the pause more than two
weeks, recommend the seasoning of "ROTANODE". Refer to the seasoning schedule.Execute the
seasoning when "ROTANODE" is unstable.
2. When the seasoning is conducted, followings are
recommended:To put X-ray protector on image intensifier's input
window. To close X-ray shutter to avoid unnecessary X-ray leakage.
3. If the tube current is unstable on the way to raise a tube voltage, lower the tube voltage until
disappearing the instability, and raise the tube voltage slower than before.
4.The seasoning is carried out by service engineers who has sufficient technical and safe
knowledge.

Seasoning Schedule in installation (Select B for the X-ray tube assembly)

Execute the seasoning by mA close to 50% mA and not exceeding it if 50% mA

cannot be set.

OPERATORS MANUAL

325V SINGLE TUBE CONTROL

AND GENERATOR
OPERATORS MANUAL 325V CONTROL AND GENERATOR

The 325V x-ray control and high voltage generator is a single

phase x-ray generating system designed to operate one doubl

below, this control offers the cperator a significant feature

timer in the A1-5000 control is all transistorized with solid

state SCR contacting.. The times in the short time range(1/120,
1/50,1/40,1/30,1/24,etc.) are precise exact times with no
deviation whatsoever. This wiil enable the operator to develop
very short time techniques for chest work, pediatrics, and other
x-ray studies in which it is desired to reduce motion to ā
minimal level through the use of high kv techniques and short
exposure times.
The 325/ control and generator is composed of two components, the A1-5000
electronic control and the A2-5000 high voltage generator. The generator contains
the transformers to go from low voltage to the very high voitages required for x-ray
tubes, with the additional circuits necessary to operate the x-ray tube filaments. The
control unit contains various controls which the operator must use to select the
desired x-ray tube current, the desired x-ray tube potential (pkv) and the length of
time that the x-ray exposure will be or.
The control panel is equipped with the following instruments and
controls:
ON-OFF push putton switch. A two position lighted push button
switch; when depressed it operates the main line contaçtor which
allows voltage to the various control circuits and the autotransformer;
the push button lights when the control is on.
LINE ADJUST push button. A spring loaded momentary push button that does not light. Depressing this push
button corverts the kvp panel meter into a voltage meter which indicates proper incoming line voltage.
BUCKY 1, BUCKY 2. Lighted push button switches that will enable the operator to switch into circuit
one òf two buckys wired to the control. For normal non-bucky operation, both push buttons must
be in the OFF or unlighted position.
ROTOR. This push button is the exposure preparation switch, and is the first button depressed tc
make an x-ray expcsure. After a time delay of approximately 1 second, the x-ray control is ready to
make an instantaneous exposure. The rotor but*on lights up immediately upon being
depressed. On realease, this switch de-energizes all exposure preparation circuits.
X-RAY exposure button. This button is depressed to make an x-ray exposure after the rctor button has been
depressed and the time delay has come in.When all other circuits are prepped (ready), depressing this push
button will trigger an instantaneous x-ray exposure according to the preset factors on the machine. The
button is normaily held throughout the entire x-ray exposure, and the x-ray control automatically terminates
the exposure
There is a circuit in the machine to aetect the failure of the SCR conlactor, and if such a failure
occurs, the machine is automatically shut down, and the circuit breaker must be re-set operator
should realize that something is wrong, and check with the local Transworld representative prior
to further using the x-ray concrol.
the sonarlert beeper gees off a the end of the x-ray exposure.

3. When a table bucky or an upright bucky is used in the installation, you wili be abie to hear the
bucky running during the exposure and it , not run when oniy the rotor button is depressed. .The
noise that i: hear is the grid cscillating and the noise of the motor drive which Pives the grid.
wring an exposure, the machine will make several types of souncs, you hear first the smaller
relays; when the rotor is up to speed a partup mechanjcal contactor comes in. This is a relatively
leud noise.During the actual x-ray exposure you can hear a slight loading sound or a deep liumm
caused by the autotrars former.
if all of the above indication, occur prior to an exposure and during an exposure, it is a reasonable
aisumption that the machine is functioning properly. This statement shou d not be constrewed as
one which eliminates tre ne-d for periodic preventive maintenance called for in the maintenance
schenle.
SERVICF. AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATED WITH THE 325V
CONTROL AND GENERATOR.

Under the HEW performance standard, the purchaser is required to

maintain this x-ray machine in compliance with the standard. In

the installation and mainteriance manual on the control, certain

procedures are recommended for routine preventive maintenance.

Once an operator has begun using this equipment,.he or she will

become familiar.with the manner in which it operates, and should

be able to spot any irregularities in machine operation that

could perhaps 'indicate trouble beginning, etc. The operator

should realize the importance of noticing any irregularities in

machine operation, particularly if they persist, and report theni

to the local Transworld representative. By doing this, many times

breakdowns can be completely avoided, and sometimes more expen-

sive repair situations can be avoided.

One of the best ways the operator can tell if the machine is performing satisfactorily is
careful observance to good x-ray technique hoth in the taking of x-ray films, and in the
pro-cessing of them. Care should be exercised so that the x-ray tube is not
overloaded.
The operator should establish a very consistent day to day

technique for different patient examinations according to

anatomical thickness. Provided the cperator does this, then

this technique should remain consistent, provided machine factors,

x-ray film and darkroom prccessing remain consistent. .Any

changes would then signal the operator that something is wrong

somewhere within the x-ray system, be it machine, film, or

darkroom.

2. All lighted push buttons should light. wnen depressed except "LInE ADJUST".
3. Chock in-coming line adjust. to see that the correct indication does not require the "LINE
"ADJUST" switch to be fully clockwise : or fu'ly counter clockwise the najority of the time.
If inis is the case, il may be an indication that the in-conring line voltage adjustmnent in the x-ray
control is not set correctly. To change, you nust call a service enginecr.

4. :f the "LINE ADJUST" is properly set, rotate the KV major and the KV minor fully
clockwise.
ilou rotate the Ky major 7 steps counter clockwise (count the full clockwise position as
the first step) and the KV minor 0 steps counter clockwise. Do this at 50 MA.
The KV meter should read 60 kv - 1 kv.

Repeat this test except now rotatethe.KV.major 3 steps counter clckwise and KV minor

must first know what the service engineer determines the quality of the power line to be.When
the rotor is up to speed, the light behind the red rotor push button sup and will stay lit until yo
release the rotor button. The light a the end of the exposure. On very short limes, the light is
held on a racticn of a second in order to give the operator time to see it.
RADIATION SAFETY.
X-RAY EQUIPMENT, IF NOT PROPERLY USEC,MAY CAUSE INJURY,BE THOROUGHLY
READ AND UNDERSTOOD EEFORE ANY AITEMPT IS MADE

rules of radiation safety so that he or she is not exposed to system incorporates

protection against x-radiation other than complete protection. Nor can any practical
design compel the prevent the possibility of authorized or unauthorized persons
carelessly, unwisely, or unknowingly exposing themselves or others to direct or
secondary ratiation.
Adequate protection within the x-ray installation should be confirmed by a certified
radiation physicist or by the appro-priate state agency. Almost every state has an
agency con-cerned with radiological health, and generally speaking they require the
purchaser of x-ray equipment to report such a purchase to that agency.
Greatest consideration shouid be given to protection of the operator and all others
against the direct beam. However, when x-radiation strikes ny material, there is
produced a secondary or scattered radiation and, since this is as potentially dan-
gerous as the direct radiation, protective measures must be adequate to guard
against it as weil.
Under no conditions, should the operator ever deliberately remain in the x-ray room
during an exposure which would expose the operator to unnecessary secondary or
perhaps even primary x-radiation. The operator should always be within a protected
x-ray controi booth and observe the patient through an x-ray view window that has
adequate protective qualities.
It is important that everyone having anything to do with x-ray
work be fully acquainted with the recommendations of the
National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, NCRP
Repert No. 39, and take adequate steps to insure protection
agairst irjury.

It is ussumed that all persors authorized to use the equipment, are cognizant cf the
danger of excessive exposure to x-radiation,and the equipment is sold with the
understanding that the company, its agents, and representatives have no
responsibility for injury or damage which may result from exposur'e to x-radiation.
Effects harmful to the heaith may be experienced by anyone exposed adequate
protection for which, varicus protective materials and devices are available.
