Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities

A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITY
a.) Greetings
Good morning Grade 7! Good morning Sir!

Let us pray first. Yes Sir (We come before You, seeking
Your direction as we begin this fresh
day of learning.
May You allow us to see with Your
eyes, hear with Your ears, and speak
with Your mouth as You guide us every
step of the way.
Join us as we travel the world.
Please keep an eye on all of our
instructors, students, and families, and
provide us the ability to love and be nice
to one another.
In the name of Jesus, Amen.

“before we start the class kindly pick up

the pieces of papers under your chairs”

b.) Checking of the attendance ( student will raised their hands if

called)
( Students will tell who’s absent for the
day)
So how’s your day? Is it good so far? “It was great Sir”

c.) Review
What was the topic that was previously “sir the topic that was previously
discussed? discussed is about Oral language which
is a process of verbally transmitting our
thoughts and ideas through a person or a
group, we also discussed the Non-
Verbal Behavior and the tips in Bodily
gestures and posture”

Okay that’s good, so let’s begin this with a “Yes sir!”

group activity! Are you ready?

B. MOTIVATION

4 PICS 1 COUNTRY
I will show you picture, you then identify
which country is it from

Is the instruction clear? “Yes sir!”

Ok first picture!
( students raises their hand and answer
“sir the answer is Egypt” )

Ok very good correct! Second picture

( student raises their hand and answers “
sir the answer is Italy”
( students raises their hand and answers
“ sir the answer is France “ )

Ok very good!
How about the third picture!

Correct! Very good class!

I believe we all had an idea about the
subject we would tackle. As you can see,
we chose a country based on the images
we saw, taking into account things like
food, locations, and environment because
those aspects of that nation's culture are
what have made them well-known to other
nations, which relates to our next topic.
(students listen attentively)
Let us move on to our lesson which is
Influence of Culture, History,
Environment or other factors on a
selection
C. LESSON PROPER

We are all influenced and affected by the

world around us. In the same way, the
reading selections or the literary works that
we read such as short stories, poems,
novels, plays, and essays were also
influenced by many factors.

Actually a person’s choice is affected or

influence through factors
These factors are
 Culture
 History
 Environment and (students listen attentively)
Others

Culture
-is a cultivated behavior; that is the totality
of a person’s learned, accumulated
experience which is socially transmitted,
or more briefly, behavior through social
learning.

It is a way of life shared by a group of

people. The behaviors, beliefs, values, and (students listen attentively)
symbols that they accept, generally
without thinking about them, and that are
passed along by communication and
imitation from one generation to the next.

Let’s say for example, do you notice that

you as a Filipino is different from the
people that lives in other countries

One reason is our difference in culture, we

have different set of values, difference in (students listen attentively)
religion and others
For example
Filipinos used “mano po” as their sign of (students listen attentively)
respect to the elders, while those people in
japan simply bow down to show their
respect

And in eating we use spoon and forks,

instead of chopsticks because we Filipinos
grew up to use spoon and fork and
sometime we use our “bare hands” to eat,
for some people in other country, eating
with your bare hands may seem
uncomfortable and disgusting to other
people it is because they are not use to see
it there in their country, it is because of the
cultural difference.

Other things about our culture which might

be a non-existent to other country is our
PAMAHIIN or Beliefs specially during
wedding, Baptism , and wakes

Imagine how our choices are affected

through these ‘pamahiins’.

For example

One must change a wedding date if a

sibling will marry on the same year due to
‘sukob’

One must not go straight back home, when

you went on a wake because you need to
stay somewhere else first or ‘pagpag’ so
that the spirit of the dead won’t follow you
home

Can the class give more examples of ( students raise their hands and gave an
‘pamahiin’ or beliefs? example)

Ok very good!

Again, can the class define what culture is? ( students raised their hands and defines
culture )

Ok very good!
Another question is why is it important to ( students raised their hands and gave
understand one’s culture? their opinion )

Very good! Correct

Understanding one's culture is important
because it helps individuals develop a
sense of identity, belonging, and self-
awareness. It allows them to appreciate
their unique heritage, values, beliefs, and
traditions, which in turn fosters emotional
well-being and resilience. (students listen attentively)

Now question is how does culture affect

literary selections?

Culture significantly influences literary

selections by shaping the themes, styles,
and perspectives presented in literature.

But first let us talk about what is Literature

Can the class read the definition?

“-Is a collection of written works from
the creative minds and imagination of
the author or writer.”
“it is divided into two genres which is
Fiction and Non-Fiction”
“The literature that we called in our
country is called Philippine Literature”
Ok thank you, to better understand what
literary is here are some examples that you
are already familiar with
 Florante at Laura by Francisco
Baltazar
 Ibong Adarna by Francisco
Santiago
 El Filibusterismo by Jose Rizal

(student raises their hand and gave an

Ok can the class give another example of
example)
Philippine literature?

Ok very good!

the Philippine literature mirrors the past

and the life of the Filipinos through Pre-
History, Colonial Legacies and up to the
(students listen attentively)
Present time
we have various of masterpieces from our
famous Filipino writers
To show how a selection may be influence
by culture, history and environment.

to start with en example of literature that is

influence through culture is “How my
brother Leon brought home a wife by
Manuel E. Arguilla”

to understand the story, I prepared a video

for you to watch

“How my brother Leon Brought home a (students watches carefully)

wife”

so the story is about a man introducing his

city-born wife to his more provincial
family

Maria is being tested with Leon’s family

especially his father if she will be able to
live a simple life in a province away from
the city (student listens attentively)

the literary piece is written by Manuel E.

Arguilla

Depicts life in barrio Nagrebcan in Baung

La union where he was born

The culture he had in province influences

(student listens attentively)
his works. His bond with his birth place
remains strong even after moving to the
city

Maria who is the character of the story,

really adjust her city life to provincial life

Our culture tells us that living in the city is

far better than living in the provincial area (student listens attentively)
The perception of Leon’s family during the
test was she can’t make it but Maria
proved them wrong

Since Maria truly loves Leon she willingly

sacrificed her city life just to be with her
love of her life.

“yes sir”
Ok does the class understand the lesson?

Ok it’s time for your activity!

Bring out ½ lengthwise sheet of paper

D. APPLICATION
Choose between the two of what food
you would like to eat and explain why?

E. GENERALIZATION
(students raised their hands)
Ok who here answered Pasta?
(students raised their hands)
How about sinigang?

The student who answered sinigang can

you explain to the class why?
