Solitude

 is primarily setting aside time to be alone with God.

 feel God's very presence.
 we come to face-to-face not only to God but with our true self as well.
 encompasses a kind of double transformative encounter with ourselves and with God
often even simultaneously.

Discussion:

In solitude It is the place where we take a few moments in quiet before God to see who we are
in relationship to God and to each other. The focus is on our inner being. Often in life we get
preoccupied. In God's eyes, we are eternally loved whether we are productive or not. Never is
performance the measure of our value and acceptance before God. From the world’s
perspectve, of course, performance is what counts .But if we keep returning faithfully to the
place of solitude, the voice of the Lord will gradually become stronger.Loneliness is marked by a
sense of isolation. Solitude, on the other hand, is a state of being alone without being lonely
and can lead to self-awareness.,

A listening heart, is “a heart in which we stand open to God with all our questions, with all that
we are, and all that we have’. In other words, it is a heart that is poised to be openly present -
inwardly, outwardly, and Godwardly.

lnward Presence

What Is Inner Presence?

 Managing Yourself
 How you experience yourself

Your inner presence can be your most valuable asset or your deepest liability.Inner presence is
the way you experience yourself. That may sound a little spiritual, but it's actually a crucial
practical skill. Inner presence determines the way you think, make decisions, lead, collaborate,
and execute strategies. It directly influences your effectiveness.Your inner presence is a moving
target from one moment to the next, since you experience yourself differently under different
conditions. One day you beat projections for the quarter and your head swells with pride;
another day, you lose a major client, and your confidence plummets. Inner presence is what's
happening inside your mind and heart as the world comes at you, judging you, testing you—
even bringing opportunities your way.Your inner presence is a means to an end.

Outward Presence
What is Outward Presence?

The outward presence or alighting / resting on presence is what we call the anointing. It is
different from the indwelling presence. This anointing is the Holy Spirit rubbing on you just like
you smear someone with olive oil for a particular purpose. Let me go deeper. Jesus always had
the Holy Spirit living inside of him. In fact when Mary was pregnant, she was full of the Holy
Spirit. She was pregnantly induced by the Holy Spirit. So Jesus always had the Holy Spirit.
However when Jesus came to Jordan for water baptism, he received what you may refer to as
the baptism of the Holy Spirit – The Spirit of God like a dove alighted and rested on him. So
Jesus had not only the indwelling presence (for fellowship) but also the alighting presence /
anointing for manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8, Acts 10:38).Let me still go
a bit deeper. The indwelling presence helps you to have a solid presence with the father. The
indwelling presence is superior because your relationship with the father comes first. Anything
after that is secondary. You can’t be chasing to be anointed when you don’t have the inward
presence, if not you may destroy yourself with the anointing. The indwelling presence brings
the fruit of the Holy Spirit that we see in Galatians 5: 22-23. However the outward presence or
anointing brings the gifts of the Holy Spirit or the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. The
indwelling presence is for relationship with the father, The outward presence is so you can be
of help to people who need help around you. If you have the inward presence but not the
outward presence, you will be a good christian but may not be able to help someone who
seriously needs divine intervention.

Godward Presence

You Were Made for the Godward Life.A Godward life is lived leaning toward God. We turn our
face toward him and not away from him. We enjoy the consciousness of his presence moment
by moment. We remember him and do not forget him. At every turn of the day, we put our
trust in him. We count on him, not only to save us when we die, but to help us in the next hour.
Really help us.

The Spirituality of the Teacher

The teachers who most deepty influenced and inspired students, were not necessarily the
most brilliant or creatve Rather, they were the ones who might eve call “saintly”, the ones who
presented a genuine warmth and caring he/she took as a indication of a healthy spintuat lif,
because of their depth of character, the Informatigg they conveyed foo on create power.
Teaching Spirituality

Spiritualy is essentially a self-implcating discipline.Teaching spirituality is a process of conveying

to another a life-style, a character, a shaping of a soul.

The teacher is more like a mentor on the spiritual way, spintual guide who must have been
steeped in the spintuality taught, so that the student may also be formed a that way as
carefully as possble. To try to teach a spintuality not engaged by te feacher is to dishonor those
who truly engage it and to cheapen the spirituality itself .The more attentive they are as
teachers to each student as a learner, and as a person, the mort effective they are at providing
educational expenences that lead each student tp deep understanding of subject matter,
knowledge of self and development of self relationship with others.

The Role of Spirituality in the Classroom

One characteristic of teaching is the need to make meaning out of the ine experience of the
classroom by developing a set of beliefs or concepts that organd? and order the daily
interactions with students. It is this system of meaning making and its corresponding set of
pedagogical beliefs that allow educators to make judgment about which classroom actions are
justifiable and which are arbitrary. Spirituality in education refers to no more and no less than a
deep connection between student, teacher, and subject a connection so honest, vital, and
vibrant that it cannot help but be intensely relevant.

LESSON 3: CULTIVATING INNER PEACE

Discussion:

As an offshoot of having a personal/inner peace, the - Good Manners and Right Conduct
Teachers are then motivated to create a peaceable classroom.
