But Hades is impatient and he goes to find Persephone. She's
picking flowers in the fields with her friends. "I love picking
Hades Loves Persephone flowers," she says.
Demeter is the goddess of agriculture. She's kind and
good. Zeus is king of the gods. Demeter and Zeus have gcit a
daughter. Her name is Persephone and she's very beautiful.
Hades is the god of the underworld and he's Zeus' brother.
One day, Hades sees the reflection of his niece, Persephone, in
a pool. He falls in love with her immediately.

I want Persephone.
She must be mine.
Suddenly, the ground moves. Persephone's face is white.
"Help!" she shouts. "The ground is moving!"
Persephone's friends run in different directions. Suddenly,
an enormous hole appears in the ground. Then a
big hand pulls her into the hole. Persephone

Demeter tries to find Persephone.
"Where's my beautiful daughter?"
she asks.
Persephone's friends
explain everything.
"This is terrible
news," Demeter
says. "I can't

Hades goes to Olympus to find Zeus. "I love Persephone," he her."

Zeus is furious. "I can't give you my daughter. Demeter loves

Aristayus and he falls in love with Eurydice immediately.
"It's a lovely afternoon," Aristayus says one day. "Let's walk
together,·Eurydice."
Aristayus walks with Eurydice in the fields.
Suddenly, he :ruUs her to him and kisses her. "I love you,
Eurydice," he says. "Marry me!"
Eurydice is shocked. "You're not serious," she answers.
"Yes, I am serious," says Aristayus. "Leave your husband,
and marry me!"

I feel compassion for you. I give my permission. You can take
Eurydice to Earth. But there's one condition: you must play
your lyre and she must follow the sound. You mustn't turn
around to look at her. First, pass the gates and let them close
behind you. Stand in the sun with Eurydice for one minute,
then you can turn around and look at her."
"Thank you, Your Majesty," says Orpheus.
