INTRODUCTION

On-the-job Training is part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient
students about the work and their future career. It is a type of skill development where a
worker learns how to do the work through hands-on experience. On the Job Training is
one method by which students are exposed with different work situation designed to give
students an opportunity to experience and a chance to apply the theories and computation
that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant
knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting.

OJT is very important not only to teach students regarding their chosen career but
also to show students the reality about working. The students will be exposed to the
actual work related to the course that they are taking. It also allows those with no
experience to work and to learn at the same time. On-the-Job Training helps the trainee
to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learned from the school. It
helps in the building up of the trainee’s competence. Of course, when a student is
competent enough, they will be able to do things successfully and. This training develops
one’s professionalism in dealing with people. After the training, the trainee will be able
to handle situations properly and they’ll be able to know how to socialize well with his
colleagues. They will also be able to work well with everyone and they’ll have a good
teamwork. OJT also enhances the critical thinking abilities and discipline of the student
conducting his training in a company. Their ability to make sound decisions and evaluate
pertinent factors will be improved.

Having a proper On-the-Job Training helps in the preparation of future

professionals for their future jobs. What the students learned in their On-the-Job
Training, even the little things, can be applied when they are already working. Students
will be trained not only academically but socially as well. The way they work and
communicate with others will not be a problem for them anymore. It also gives the
trainee the chance to immerse themselves in their chosen field and experience and learn

the skills necessary to the industry they are interested in. Working with experienced staff,
one will be able to observe how the job is done properly.

Aside from work experience, On-the-Job Training allows the trainee to get
acquainted with the real professionals and to meet people having different positions in the
company, either high or low. The trainee will be able to know how to adjust to other
people’s personalities and attitudes. On-the-Job Training requires effort and seriousness.
A trainee should take the OJT seriously as it can be a powerful tool for a person in
preparing for the next chapter of life as a professional. It can possibly be a source of
recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals
someday.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE

The training I had in the Administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School, is learning many experiences each day. I was exposed in the actual work in the
office, became familiar with the documents that need to be prepared there and learned
how to use equipment that are usually used in the office. Aside from those things, I also
learned to be more sociable and to adjust myself in the environment where I am working
at and who I am working with.

In my more than three month stay there, I learned many things not only those
things that are related to my course but also the things that molded me into the person I
am right now. As I was working as a trainee at the Administrative office I learned to
become a hard-working person. The time to finish the task assigned to me is important,
but it is also important that I should do it correctly. I learned to appreciate even the
simplest lessons studied in school. I was able to realize the importance of theories and
logics that were discussed in the school. Also, to understand that everything that was
taught in the school can be a tool that can be used in my future career, because during my
On-the-Job Training, the terms that I have learned from school were used in the office
where I was conducting my training, especially those terms related to school, students
and teachers. As I was conducting my training there, I also learn to follow the
instructions and to accept or admit my failure and should learn from it as what my
Supervisor said to me.

In later weeks of my training they notice that I have the confidence to accept task
and my initiative. They said that they already see me as an officemate not just as a trainee
I am thankful about that because all of my hard work pays off and appreciated but feel a
sense of responsibility not to disappoint them.

During the training, I realized that on-the-job training is not just a requirement to
be completed but it is an opportunity to show what skills, knowledge, and talents that I
have and also an opportunity to experience the feeling of being a professional already.

Aside from the experiences that I had relating to my course, this On-the-Job
Training allowed me to get acquainted with the employees and teachers of Sto. Tomas
Integrated High School. Being with them is a pleasure because now I was working with
my former teachers that I look up to during senior high years. During my stay there as a
trainee, they kept on encouraging and motivating me to study hard and to do my best
always.

I won’t forget my supervisors who challenged and trusts not just my skills and
abilities but also my patience. They we’re so kind and hardworking, there is always a
time that we have a lot to do and didn’t have any opportunity to take rest even having our
lunch breaks. But I always see it as an opportunity to surpass my limits and I love to
work with those people that is dedicated and passionate about their work.

With that experience that I had with all of my Supervisors, I am so thankful to

them because they taught me to be more patient and to be confident of what I know is
right and not to have doubt about what I can do. Whenever they ask me to do something,
they always keep on saying that I should do things slowly but surely and if I don’t know
how to do things is it okay to ask questions. They never pressured me to make haste in
doing the tasks that they have given me. All of the people I have worked with during my
On-the-Job Training are all very inspiring. They all left a piece of advice to me that I will
surely keep in my mind and in my heart for the rest of my life.

I really had a very meaningful and memorable On-the-job Training at

Administrative Office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School Though I already finished
working there as an intern, I am looking forward to working with them, not as a trainee
anymore, but as an educator or administrative staff on my dear alma matter, in the future.

FILING

The training I had in the Administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School, is learning many experiences each day. I was exposed in the actual work in the
office, became familiar with the documents that need to be prepared there and learned
how to use equipment that are usually used in the office. Working on many types of files
on school operations are quite hard at first, because as a trainee we do not really know the
purpose of those different files.

All throughout my whole time as a trainee I learned how to work various types of
files like different Student forms, liquidations, receiving delivery receipts and etc.
managing those files and documents need a thorough knowledge because these are
significant documents needed in school operations. Every time that I was asked to
administer files always asked any of my cooperating administrative officer what is the
purpose of it.

I am grateful that I was trusted by my cooperating officers to administer various

types of school files and documents. In the early days of my training I was already tasked
to administer those requested copy of student’s records. It includes their SF10, Previous
Form-137 or their elementary record and birth certificate. Those said student’s records
was really important and confidential the client must possess request letter sign by their
current school registrar if it is needed. Also we must them for whom they are requesting
because of the time there are parents and guardians requesting it. Then we need to ask if
they need the original copy or the certified true copy. The school must retain a copy so
we need to make a copy using copier machine. If the certified true copy is need we made

copies then certify it using dry seal and stamp, then signed by some personnel who
prepared it.

I also experienced receiving school supplies then signed it. At first I was hesitant
to sign but according to those personnel from DepEd central office is it okay that I was
the to receive if there is no one available on that moment. But I make sure that their copy
of delivery invoice is matched with the copy they are giving to the school also I inspect if
the delivered items was in perfect condition and complete according to the delivery
receipts and I take pictures as documentation and asked for identifications of delivery
personnel form the main office.

The most difficult file to administer is the liquidation of budget it consists

accounting statements, receipts, and proper procurement procedures. I was asked by one
of my cooperating admin officer to help because she need to pass it on the District Office
that day luckily we finished it on time and no errors.

My whole experience work with various types of files are both interesting and
knowledgeable. I am happy with all of my learnings that I might need in the near future.

TYPING AND RECORDING

The training I had in the Administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School, is learning many experiences each day. I was exposed in the actual work in the
office, became familiar with the documents that need to be prepared there and learned
how to use equipment that are usually used in the office. Working on many types of files
on school operations are quite hard at first, because as a trainee we do not really know the
purpose of those different files.

All throughout my whole time as a trainee I learned how to work with various
types of files. I learned how to encode on SF10, it contains datum about a student like
name, grade level, grades, advisers, their student number and status as a student. There
were times that we need to make a soft copies of students, mostly transferees. Their
present school were to too far and time consuming to send their student forms via courier
services, for an example in Mindanao. So we need to make a soft copy then send it via
email. Those tasks were simply there is a prepared or blank template of SF10 then all I
need to do is to input datum of that specific student. After that I’ll check it if there are no
clerical errors and all datum was correct.

We are also tasked to check student forms on the later part of third quarter of the
school year. Class advisers must provide their clear books containing their advisory
class’s forms. It must contain student’s present and previous SF10 and also birth
certificate. We need to check the learners number (LRN), names on each documents I
there is typographical or issue with the birth certificate. If we find any error and missing
document, we will encode it using MSspreedsheet. We need check the forms of all
current student form Grade 7 to Grade 12 senior high school. I was glad that we fished
that task correct far ahead on the due date given by the principal.

In my training I was also asked by some teachers to encode on SF9 particularly

last fourth quarter of the school. Like the SF10 there is a template that I can use. All I
need to do is to input the student’s name and grade for that quarter. Then print it use A4
construction paper. I’ve done SF9 for four class advisory in senior high school. I was
glad that I finished it all without having errors they we’re happy about my work.

My whole experience work with various types of files are both interesting
and knowledgeable. I am happy with all of my learnings that I might need in the near
future.

MESSENGERIAL JOBS

The training I had in the Administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School, is learning many experiences each day. I was exposed in the actual work in the
office, became familiar with the documents and memorandums that needed to
disseminate to the teachers. All throughout my whole time as a trainee I was frequently
asked by our cooperating administrative officers to hand over, collect and bring
documents to the teachers, it is also a part of office operations. Every time that I was
asked to bring some documents, if it is not confidential I always ask my cooperating
officers with is the purpose of those documents.

There are various tasked given to me that I can consider a messenger job. For an
example is when I’m collecting their Daily Time Record that needed for filing teachers
service credits. It is a form of benefit and credits for those teachers that work during non-
working days. Service credits can be a whole working day pay or can be converted to
vacation leave and leave of absence. There are instances that they need to work during
non-working days for an example there is a faculty meeting during Saturdays, activities
during non-working holiday or official national holidays and also summer classes now
are called training camp.

Other tasks that I’ve considered messenger jobs is there are time that I was asked
to disseminate memorandums to coordinators coming from the principal. For an example
a memorandum about the upcoming graduation, it was intended for the senior high school
coordinators. All I need is to bring copies to each coordinators.

OTHER JOBS

The training I had in the Administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School, is learning many experiences each day. I was not exposed in the actual work in
the office but to the other works for school operations. Some tasks that given to us was
outside the office.

Most of the time when there is a vacant I clean comfort rooms in the schools to
help the utility workers in the school. Most of the when there is no water in the
designated comfort room for the admins in the second floor I fetch pales of water. For me
I do not see these job dirty because I see cleaning practices as part of school operation
and management.

Also there was a time that I help the ICT coordinators for installing software’s in
the computer tablets for National Achievement exam. Considering that Sto. Tomas
Integrated High School is the only school under Department of Education that offers
specialization in the ICT and have a good computer facility. It was chosen to be the
testing center. With the help of ICT coordinators, we set up 2 Wi-Fi routers in two
different rooms and installed the software in 60 tablet computers that can be use in the
exam.

Aside from that I managed to do inventory of chairs per classroom in the school.
It is part of annual school property management report for the school year 2022-2023
prepared by the administrative officers, Ms. Gail Elaine B. Balanoba.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

The training I had in the Administration Office of the Sto. Tomas Integrated High
School is learning many experiences each day. I was exposed in the actual every day
working scenario. I’ve learned how to deal with professionals and handle problems like
one too.

In my whole time being a trainee I am thankful that I did not experienced any
problem and trouble in the office. The only thing that I can say when I’m making trouble
shooting the office equipment most likely the printers and the copier machine. The copier
machines that we use in the office is some sort of imported, I can say that because the
instructions and buttons was in Spanish. The problem with copier machine it can’t be set
to other size of paper, but I noticed that it can be change in other size of paper like A4. So
I tried to total it how because our cooperating officers doesn’t really know how to do.
Luckily I identify what is the correct buttons and command that is needed and fix that
problem,

I didn’t say that my whole training was that really smooth and going well. As a
student I also have problems and dilemma that I face every day. Every time I’ll go in the
office I need to spent almost two hundred pesos every day for fare or travel expenses
only. Also sometimes I have duties and responsibilities in our family business that needed
to fulfill that’s why I can go to the office every day regularly.

I open up this matter to our cooperating officers and I am glad that they
understand my situation. As a return I always do my best and make sure that I finish my
task ahead of the given due date.

DEALING WITH SUPERVISORS

My whole training as an intern in the Administrative office of the Sto.Tomas

Integrated High School become knowledgeable thanks to my diligent and compassionate
cooperating administrative officers Mr. Gilbert Recoco and Ms. Gail Ellaine Balanoba
headed by a passionate principal Mrs. Ernila B.Baganaya.

The experienced that had during my training was very remarkable because of their
teaching, guidance and advises. I didn’t find any difficulty to socialize with them. Every
time that I have questions and inquiries they always have time to answer and teach us the
way. Also our principal is very thoughtful to us, she always reminds our due dates and
task though most of the we always done our tasks ahead of time. They do not give us too
much tasks that we can’t handle and give precise instructions when they us task.

Sometimes when they are done to their work for the day we always have snack in
the office. Most of the time they give me milk teas our fruit shake. I can say that I we’ve
develop good friendship and harmonious relationship in the work place. During our free
time we have small talks about personal life. They share stories about themselves and
experiences in life, I always hear quotable lessons and advices from them that inspire me
to pursue my dreams and endeavors.

I am happy that once in my life, I have met people like them in my life who
taught me things related to my chosen course, and most importantly, they helped me to be
the best that I can be. They are the ones who helped me in molding myself to be the
individual I am right now. They challenged my skills, abilities and knowledge and gave
me a chance to prove myself to them. It is a very heartwarming thing to know that there
are people who believe in me. I’m very grateful because I made them proud of what I
have accomplished during my training and they were very thankful for everything that I
have helped them with.

My whole training as an intern in the Administrative office of the Sto.Tomas

Integrated High School become remarkable and ease with the help of my co-trainees
Jenny De Castro, Leivy Mendoza and Jasmine Andres. I am glad to have them as training
buddies, we built harmonious relationship and good team work in the work place.

There are times that my co-trainees they don’t really understand what they are
doing but they we’re so cooperative. Most of the time they handle those easy jobs like
making copies of document and sorting documents. As times goes by I’ve seen them
improve during our training. I see their diligence in every tasks that given to us.

I cannot say that working with them is really that smooth and ease. Sometimes I
find it hard when they’re leaving their tasks given to them, I was the one who finish and
redo if they done it wrong. Alongside those things I understand that they have other
responsibility outside the office.

During are training I see their innate potentials that I think they didn’t realize to
themselves. I hope those three will discover and improve their skills. In all I was glad to
meet them I hope they have learned something in our training that they can use in their
future.

of the visitors are parents and guardians asking for student’s records. In handling visitors,
it is important to first asks their inquiries and asks them to sign in our log book. Then I
can proceed processing their needs.

During my training I had an opportunity welcome visitors like the Department of

Education District Supervisor Mrs. Freo. There was a tine that she came to our office to
have meeting with the principal. First we need to greet politely and offer them seats. Also
our cooperating officer thought us that when accommodating important visitors ask them
if they need something else and offer them drinks or coffee.

I’m glad that during my stay there as an intern I can say that I didn’t messed up in
accommodating visitors, I think I already have the skill to accommodate visitors because
of the nature of our family business. Every day we handle clients and we do the same
thing as we handle those visitors.

Nothing beats experience as the perfect learning tool. This On-the-

Job Training served as my stepping stone to pursue my dream to be an
educator someday. This training gave me an inspiration to be more serious
and focused in studying. I was encouraged to do more efforts in my
studies. Since I was given some ideas about the work of an administrative
officers in the school administrative office where I conducted my training,
I am inspired to be like them someday. With all that can recommend
anything to the program, because how it is designed and implemented is
perfect example of real-life scenario in the office.
Despite the short period of my training, it was still a very
meaningful one. The training enriched my confidence created a foundation
of being a good employee someday. It caused a very huge effect to me as
a Bachelor of Business Technology and livelihood Education Student. I
was really renewed. I learned to be diplomatic in both action and words.
This training made me realize that it is really good to know what
you’re doing, and to love it. As a student, what I can do for now is to learn
whatever I can in school, be inspired, love the path I am taking, and do my
best in everything I do, with a positive outlook in mind. I realized that I
should be more focused in school and do everything heartily and with all
that I can.
It is also very warm to the heart to know that you have
accomplished something and even warmer when there are people who are
so proud of what you have done and I felt this feeling during my On- the-
Job Training. It inspired me to be more determined and competitive in
everything that I do in my daily life as a student today and as a
professional someday.
My On-the-Job Training is very helpful and will be very helpful to
me as I continue to take my journey as a fourth year student in the field of

education. It really gave me a taste of the real world – a glimpse of what

WEEK 1

This is my first week as an On-the-job trainee in the school office of Sto. Tomas
Integrated High School. As an alumnus here in this school I was grateful to be back here
as a trainee in the school office. I was glad to meet the new School Principal Mrs. Ernila
B. Bagayana and the two other School office employees.

This week I’ve learned so much on how school office works and functions. On
my first week I was given a task that something new to me. It is finding students records
specifically form 137 and SF10. It Is a form of document that contains important
information about the students. It contains their Grade level, Enrollment status and
grades.

I observe and learned the process for requesting for student’s records. First
anyone that requesting must have letter of request from the current school that the student
is attending. If the student is already graduate and drop out it is not necessary. Then we
will be asked by our cooperating officer to find in school’s record cabinet and make a
copy of it. We will hand it over to our cooperating officer and they will certify its
authentication using dry seal and the school principal’s signature stamp.

Sometimes I find difficulty on searching for student’s records due to some

miscommunication and misleading information. For an example the mother of Maria A.
Dela Cruz come to our office requesting for her daughter’s records and she stated that the
last attending year is 2021-2022 but the real last attending year was 2020-2021. It is hard
and time consuming because we will keep digging the wrong compilation.

My Learning outcome for this week is to be patient dealing with those people and
making sure of their given information. This is a great opportunity to test my patience
and improve it for the betterment of my personality. Also we to be polite and still smile at
them wherever and whenever no matter how hard the give task is.

My first week was really a good start and I was motivated to perform excellently
because of what I have already accomplished and because of my Supervisor who is very
accommodating and kind to me and to my co-interns.

WEEK 2

This is my second week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. On this week I made a realization of the
importance of being physically fit because this past few my physical strength was tested
due ascending and descending school buildings stairs. I have given a task to laminate
student’s school I. Ds using lamination machine. This task is not something new to me
because I already experienced it in our business. But the struggle is to find the student’s
adviser and I need to know who they are. I didn’t personally know the names most of the
new teachers so I have to ask anyone that I saw one by one. I already searched for the
whole school premises and both school building the one that has four levels and twenty
rooms also the other on that has three levels and fifteen room where are the school
administration office located. In the end I found most of them in the Junior High School
Speech Laboratory having their lunch break. Then I politely greet them and hand them
over their student’s school I’ D I also asked their names for I am able to know to them, if
there is a task given to me I can finish my task more efficient.

The other task that given to me this week was handing memos and documents to
the teachers coming from the administrative office. Also I was task to find formers
students and transferees records. It includes their Student Form 10 or the SF10,
Elementary records and their birth Certificate as well. If the requested documents were
found, we need to make a copy of it using copier machine then give it our cooperating
administrative officer for certification of authenticity.

In my free times I seek something to do like sweeping the floors and cleaning the
comfort room, it is our second week as trainees so we are not given much task so I have
to take initiative on doing those things. I also want to build good impression about me
and to our beloved Polytechnic University of the Philippines that we students are good in
work place. In all I find this week productive and knowledgeable I have given a great

opportunity to showcase what I have learned in our institution as a future educator and
learned a lot of things that I might use someday in my dream profession.

WEEK 3

This is my third week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative office

of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. This week we were given a task to arrange all of
the student’s records from school years 2016-17 up to this present school year according
to school year and Grade level. This task will benefit the school administrative office. It
will lessen the time for searching if needed and it can secure documents to loss and
destruction. This is not an easy job for us but by proper sorting techniques and
cooperation with my fellow trainees we can manage this task.

We do our task steps by steps procedure to minimize error and maximize time.
First we removed those student records that individually placed on white folders then
compile one’s SF10, SF9 or the report card, birth certificate and elementary records using
stapler. Second is compiling those records according to student’s last attended grade level
for an example I’ve done the Grade 7 of school 2019-2020 it must contain only grade 7
students record from that particular attending year. Third is to arrange them
alphabetically by their sure names, because on the SF10 the names was indicated
surnames first in the upper leftmost part of the documents. Then place it in clear plastic
binder to somehow protect in in destruction and easy to find if needed.

This task tests our presence of mind, coordination and communication skills.
Working as a team have a great benefit but it can be a disadvantage as well. There is an
instance that I messed up in sorting grade levels and they already arranged it
alphabetically. It was late to notice my mistake and we rearranged it. By the help of my
fellow trainees we did this task great.

My best contribution to that task is being a good follower to them, because my

fellow trainees they were long term and good friends the three of them. They can
communicate with each other very well and they can work synchronized, with very in
fairness with them they didn’t left me behind during this task until we finished this task.

Also can say that I did not let myself to be a burden to this because the boxes of those
documents I didn’t let them to a carry any of those.

In my free times I seek something to do like sweeping the floors and cleaning the
comfort room, it is a busy week as but I have to take initiative on doing those things This
week is a fruitful week and I’ve learned so much, now a I am able to work cooperate with
them well because we developed good camaraderie with each other’s and it will benefit
us on working on future tasks.

WEEK 4

This is my fourth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. The task that given to us was getting tiring
and hard as weeks goes by. Same as the previous week we continue arranging school
forms and given new tasks. At first we need to finish our previous task which is the
compilation of students records. Now we were tasked to help Ms. Gail Balanoba she is
one of the administrative officer in the office, to put property tags on school properties
issued on teachers it includes teacher’s tables, printers and android tablets that is used for
teaching the property tag indicates Property Numbers, Asset Classification, the item
brand, model, acquisition date, cost, date and specially the Accountable personnel.

This task was quite tiring due to the heat wave that were experiencing this week,
Personally I sweat a lot and felt heat exhaustion. During this task I really find difficulty to
focus I think because of my blood pressure, but thanks to Ma’am Gail our cooperating
officer she noticed my excessive sweating she gave us break for us to regain strength and
be able to perform well. The most difficult part of this task is the property a tags for
android tablets because the room that where we did that is located on fourth floor and the
room was very congested of students. The temperature is high and I feel suffocation but
still continue what I am doing. This shows that in life we need to surpass our limits to
achieve our goals and objectives.

The other task that given me is the copy test papers mostly for senior high school
students. Mostly teachers asked to make 50 copies each examination paper. I already
produced approximately 300 copies that whole day. It is easy to makes copies using the
copier machine, but the problem is the machine is too old for that task. I noticed that in
every time I input command to produce 50 copies it stops and paper jams in every time
when it already produced in the middle of twentieth up to the thirtieth copy. I think due to
overheating so I decided to make copies by 10 and place electric fan at the back of the

53

copy machine. In the end I finished my task without any serious problem encountered
with the copy machine and I am glad to help to my former teachers in the STIHS.

Also this week the supplies like electric fans, markers, folders, envelopes and
other office supplies was delivered coming from District Office of Department of
Education. First we help by arranging those supplies then take photo, they need photos
for further liquidation. We need to inspect those electric fans if it functions well. After
that we distribute it to the assigned teachers. Teacher must inspect it and sign receiving
invoice for school properties. For those teacher that assigned on higher levels mostly
female teachers I offered them to bring it to their classroom. After distribution I
rearranged the office storage cabinet because it is already quite full so I needed to make
space for newly acquired supplies. I was also asked to rearrange teacher’s School Form 6
in contains their leave of absence, medical histories and the matter of their absences. We
arranged it alphabetically according to their surnames and chronologically.

We’ve done a lot of work this week and I am glad that we we’re trusted by our
cooperating officers to do those task. Also I feel that this week became a great avenue to
learn and enhance my skills that I can use in the future.

WEEK 5

Today marks my fifth week of being an intern at school administration office of

Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. A new week for another set works to do. As usual
we started on arranging previous student’s files, then a new task given to us it is checking
of forms form the third quarter of the school year. This are the files and school forms of
all current students. First we need to collect it from each class advisers. It is consisting of
report card/SF9, SF10, Elementary records and birth certificate. Then we need to check
their current learner’s number (LRN) if it is match to the other records. Second is their
birth certificate, need to check if the given names are match to their student records. If we
find any mistake or missing forms, we to encode it using spread sheet. This task will take
time to finish due to number of student but we can do it properly and meet our due date if
we are coordinated and have cooperation.

While checking forms with my fellow interns, I was tasked by one of or

cooperating admin officer Ms. Gail to go with her together with the school utility kuya
Abet on the DepEd District Office to pick up the additional learner’s module for the
student of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. When we arrived in the office Ms. Gail
told ne to wait for her outside because she needs to pass some documents and show
courtesy to the DepEd District Supervisor Mrs. Freo. After that we go to the other
building then load those learner’s module on the tricycle then go back to the school.
When we arrived I unload those learner’s module, count and disseminate it to the junior
high school coordinators and brought it to their respectively classroom.

That day was so hot the tasked was vigorous but I managed to finish that task with
the help of the school utility worker. Kuya Abet was serving the school since it was
founded. During my senior high school day, I already worked with him in maintain
school cleanliness as Supreme Student Government president. Now I am glad to help him
again as an intern in the school office. It is always a pleasure to work with hardworking

WEEK 6

This is my sixth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. The tasks that I did this week were just the
continuation of the tasks that I did on the previous week. Last week, we do checking of
forms and encoding so we need to continue it. Series or forms came to the office that’s all
we do. It was so tiring because we need to focus our eyes on checking and I experienced
headache often this week. If really can’t focus on my tasked due to headache I get
permission on my cooperating administrative officers that can take a rest for a while but I
do other things like copying documents or cleaning the office the office.

Last Friday it was the celebration of Math and Science week. They have a series
of activities for the students and also a pageant that called Mr. and Ms. MathSci. The day
was full activities and fun but not for me I help those subject coordinators on
preparations. The sound system, tables, chairs and also accommodating guests. I gm glad
that I

It was a great week for me and I was really satisfied with my accomplishments for
this week. Despite the times that I was just sitting on my chair checking and encoding, in
front of my table, and waiting for my supervisor to ask me to do something, I still learned
to behave and to be alert whenever they call me abruptly. Also multi-task and work under
pressure.

WEEK 7

Today marks my seventh week of being an intern at school administration office

of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. A new week for another set works to do. The
tasks that I did this week were just the continuation of the tasks that I did on the previous
week. Last week, we do checking of forms and encoding so we need to continue it. The
new task given to me was gathering signatures of those signatories of school memos and
designations. That document contains designations for teachers and coordinatorship. It is
an important document because it was the responsibilities given by to all teachers by the
school head. Also it is a good credit scores for teacher’s promotions.

While working in the office some grade twelve students came to the office and
asking if we can try their products and conducts some surveys. Their strand is Home
Economics Cookery same as me when in senior high. Their products were Pineapple
biscuits, so they made biscuits using pineapple core as flavoring. Sir Bernard, their
research adviser knowing that I am a cookery graduate too he ask me that if I can help
them in improving their product so they can proceed in their research. So I taste their
samples, I give my observation and advise that can help them, at that point we came to
the Cookery Laboratory they tried my suggestions and we were so satisfied with the
outcome.

This week we did our usual task like accommodating those clients requesting for
student records and making a copy it. I can say that I already adapt on working
environment now I can initiate things but always ask guidance and approval on my
cooperating administrative officers.

I am happy with all of my accomplishment this I hope this would satisfy my

cooperating administrative officers. I was also starting to be comfortable with the people
I work with as well as in the workplace.

WEEK 8

Today marks my eighth week of being an intern at school administration office of

Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. It’s been two months since we started as an interns,
I learned so much in the office and how its functions. I also get along with my
cooperating teachers and the school faculty. Now we started sharing thoughts and
experiences in life. I am glad that they appreciate my hard work and see how passionate I
am to this training. They also see us grow and how improve as an interns.

This week we are able to finish our task which is the checking of students forms
for the current quarter. We finished it this week and present our output to our principal
Mrs. Ernila B. Baganaya. We’re glad the she is satisfied and complement with our work
and we did it a head of time before our deadlines. After that we return to the advisers
their students forms and present them the checklists.

As usual we always accommodate those requests of students forms and we do not

have much to do. I noticed the shelves and cabinets was quite dusty so I initiated to clean.
Our cooperating administrative officers said that it was not part of the office jobs and it
belongs to the utility workers. But instead I insisted to the cleaning, I grab some dump
towels and fetch a pale of water then carefully wipe those shelves and cabinets. I am
satisfied with my work and feel fresher ambience in the office, I believe that having clean
work place will benefit everyone.

After that I wash those dishes that they used, I noticed that they do not take
initiative to wash what they used. First and foremost, they are the one who makes coffee
every morning for themselves. I really feel bad about that, because is really shows how
lazy are them in their house. There is a time that they didn’t wash what they have used
until the next following one of our cooperating administrative officer noticed their wrong
doing and laziness. She told to tell mu co-interns that it is true that those chores are not

part of office operations but those coffee mugs and spoons are used by my co-interns so
they have the responsibility to clean it after using it.

The following day I told my co-interns what miss Gail said to me, but instead of
apology I here excuses and rants. It is not what I am expecting from and I really felt bad
about it. I think dealing with those kind of persons is really hard. But in the end have to
endure them because they are my co-interns.

WEEK 9

This is our ninth week as an interns in the Administrative Office of Sto. Tomas
Integrated High School. This whole week is productive and knowledgeable in my part as
an intern. The principal decided to have half day for a month, it means that school hours
will be 7 am until 11:30 am only. The faculty came up this idea due to the heat wave or
El Nino we are experiencing and the congestion in classroom. So the principal tasked us
interns to monitor attendance of students every morning. We have to round the whole
school every morning, luckily the students are cooperative and they initiate to write their
total attendance in their black boards.

Also as part of Administrative office operations we accommodate those

applicants, applying for as teachers. As an intern I was the one who give them chairs
while waiting and if one applicant is done with the interview which is administered by
our Administrative Officer II Mr. Gilbert Recoco I will call the next applicants. During
that activity I’ve learned and noticed that the completion in the applications was very
tough. Why? Because of the pointing system and ranking process in the Department of
Education. Applicants must have good credentials, a minimum of three years teaching
experience, certificates in training, National Certificate and the most important is the
Teaching license.

As an Education student I really aspire to be one day enters the Department of

Education as Teacher. Now I’ve seen and the competition, it really feeds the flame in my
heart to do well on what I a m doing right now so in the near future I am able compete for
my dream to be a teacher.

After that Sir Gilbert to bring those assessment forms for applicants to those
Master Teacher III and Coordinators.

This I’ve learned so much in the real word and the teacher’s world. I’ve seen their
desires to be teachers and how passionate they be means of their credentials. This

experienced fueled to do my best and when that day comes that I am the one in the
interview I can present myself and make them believe that I can be part of the
Department of Education as Teacher.

WEEK 10

This is my tenth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. This week I got sick and I was only able to
work for two days. This week I was given task to encode student’s form 10 or the SF10
on soft copy I am able to that recently, so it’s not new to me and I already finish 7 sets of
student’s.

We do usually what we do in the school administrative office operations. I do

some copy of school forms and accommodate clients in the office. I also do cleaning in
the office.

This week I think was most inspiring week that I experienced trough out my
training. Because there is a program set by the school principal Mrs. Ernila B. Bagayana.
It is a send-off to an outgoing junior high school teacher. This is her last week in the Sto.
Tomas Integrated High School as junior high school because she was reassigned
somewhere in the Sab Pablo. The program was led by the school principal and I’ve seen
how glad and thankful she was to meet an outstanding educator in the school. She said
that she was honored to work with all the teachers in the school, but there is a time that
we need to said good byes. As a school principal she was very thankful on all the efforts
of teachers in the Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. Because most of them came from
far parts of Laguna, some are from Siniloan, San Pablo, Sta. Cruz, Majayjay etc.

I can’t imagine what they have been through just to provide quality education to
their students. They need to drove hours every day or commute rain or shine and spends
hundreds of pesos for travel expenses every day. I realized that my dream profession
needs a lot of passion and love. It really inspires me and see the importance of teachers in
our country.

WEEK 11

This is my eleventh week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. Last May 31 I got bitten a strange dog and I
need to seek immediate medical attention. I got my anti-rabies shots and I need to
continue it for the following weeks. This week I was only able to work for two days.

We do usually what we do in the school administrative office operations. I do

some copy of school forms and accommodate clients in the office.

This week the Rural Health Unit came to the office for the quarterly health
monitoring of students. Unfortunately, the school clinic nurse was absent that’s why the
Junior High School Coordinator Ma’am Magnaye accommodate and have meeting the
municipal nurse. As a visitor in the office I greet the Municipal R.H.U nurse politely and
offer her seats and any drinks.

Also this week we’re invited to watch and observe the campaign rally of aspiring
net Supreme Student Government. We all hear their agendas and plans for the betterment
of school and witness their bravery and conviction that they want to serve the school also
be a good leaders and as a role model for their fellow students. As a former SSG
President of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School I love to see the new generation of
students that aspires and have the courage to be a good student leader. I hope that they
elect those worthy for the responsivities and obligations as leaders.

WEEK 12

This today marks my week twelve as an On-The-Job trainee in the school

administrative office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. A new week for new sets of
work to do and fresh experience to expect. This week is more remarkable the past few
weeks, the tasks that I did this week were just the continuation of the tasks that I did on
the previous week. Like the previous week I usually administer those request for student
forms. Also this week I we we’re asked to facilitate an examination for college
scholarship grant from a non-government organization for those graduating senior high
school.

We all know that we experience a strong earthquake last Thursday. It is a quite

frightening experience for me because it is my first time to experience an earthquake in
school. I am concern about the possible casualties and students’ safety especially. The
moment of earthquake we’re in the doing are usual job. Then we noticed and felt the
earthquake, at first no one take the initiative to go to out but we see that the students are
staring to leave their classroom then the principal told the teachers to secure their students
outside the buildings. To avoid stampede, teachers guide their students to gather in the
school ground. Then the MDRRMO coordinator of the school Master Teacher III Sir.
Bernard De Luna make an announce that the classes for that day was suspended as per
Provincial Governor Ramil Hernandez announced it in his official face book page.

After that the Municipal Risks Reduction Management Office for initial
assessment and know that is there anyone hurt during and after the earthquake. We’re
glad that there’s no one hurt in the other schools according to MDRRMO.

The next following the Municipal Engineering came to assess the structural
integrity of schools build. Our principal asks me to guide them and gave the keys to each
classroom because all the rooms are closed due to class suspension. According to them
there are no significant signs of collapse and the school building are good.

The lesson for this week is to always have presences of mind and resilient to
anything that might happen at work because we didn’t know when calamity strikes.

WEEK 13

On the thirteenth week of my On-the-Job Training, the tasks that I did this week
were just the continuation of the tasks that I did on the previous week. Like the previous
week I usually administer those request for student forms. Also this week I we we’re
asked to clean computer lab and install software in the computer tablets for incoming
National Career Assessment. First we charge those computer tablets and tests the
keyboards. Secondly, we install the software and test run. Lastly we set up it to the other
assigned computer laboratory.

This week I was tasked to set up the stage, sound system and chair for the parents
and teachers meeting for the incoming moving up ceremony and graduation of grade
twelve students. That meeting was headed by the school principal Mrs. Ernila B.
Bagayana. She discusses the given memorandum by the Department of Education,
contains the policies, rules and regulations for the incoming event.

Additionally, to the past given task last day is the day of National Career
Assessment. I was asked to help those teacher coming from Dayap National High School
Main to facilitate the exam. I do the board work for examination using tarp papel. I did
the layout, print it and bring together.

Last Friday I was alone the office in the office because Sir Gilbert are in leave and
Ma’am Gail was in official business. In the morning I was with our principal, I
administer alone those request for school forms and certified it. I am glad that I was
trusted by our principal to administer those work only done by the official administrative
officers. After lunch break Ma’am Erla said that she was leaving going to the Division
Office, and said that I close the office at 5pm and secure the office.

In my free time I cleaned the office and the comfort room for administrative
office. Also I sort those documents detached to the student’s forms compilation. I can say
this week is very rewarding and knowledgeable.

WEEK 14

This is my fourteenth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. This week I was only able to work for two
days 26 and 27. This week I was given task to mark those school chairs and office chairs.
After that I continue my report in the count of chairs in every classroom.

Also I do what we usually do in the office, accommodate and administer those

requests of students forms like SF10 and Elementary Records. Those past 2 days we do
not much to do I think it is a good thing I can say that we can relax because past weeks
we had a lot to do. But during my free time I initiate to clean the office and premises.

WEEK 15

This is my fifteenth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. This week I was only able to work for two
days 29 and 30. This week I do what we usually do in the office, accommodate and
administer those requests of students forms like SF10 and Elementary Records.

Unlike last week we do not have much to do, this week I help some teachers to do
their school forms like printing of SF9. First I have to edit the names of students in the
SF9 because there is a new guideline for school forms, the middle name was needed to
include unlike the past few years they only include middle initials. I can say that the
struggle for this task is the number of copies and my screen time I experience a

75

tremendous headache during this task. Fortunately, I finished to do SF9 of four advisory
class of for teachers.

As an intern in the office I see all the hard works of all teachers to meet those
deadlines and series of works. I am glad that I was exposed to the real scenario in life of a
professional teacher, I can say that I can use those experienced when the time come I
became a teacher. This week is a productive and great opportunity for learning.

WEEK 16

This is my sixteenth week as an On-The-Job trainee in the school administrative

office of Sto. Tomas Integrated High School. This week I was able to work for the whole
week. I already fulfil my three hundred hours of training but I choose to help them on the
preparation for incoming moving up and graduation ceremony. Besides there’s a lot of
work in the office that needed to be accomplished

I was asked to help those senior high school coordinators to make lay for the
graduating students and their one companion so it is a total of 5 sections the Arassi, Jobs,
Benitez, Speigeil and Gordon multiply by two. It a big job that need to be finished in a
short span of time. First I have to print it using construction paper and cut it. Then the
ribbons were cut by sir Palagod and Sir King Roy. Then the ribbons were attached by
ma’am Laine and Ma’am Ana. At the end of the day we fished this task and end our day
with milk tea and siomai.

I also help Ms. Gail one of our cooperating administrative officer in the
disbursement report that need to be pass in the Division Office. That was the report for
the bidding of suppliers and delivery receipts, we to do two copies of this document.

This week we have visitors from Philippine National Police or PNP. They have a
meeting with the school principal regarding to the moving up and graduation ceremony
they we’re giving the school security for the incoming event.

I had a lot to do this week this also includes the checking of school forms it
include SF 1, SF 2, SF 3, SF 5, SF 8, Classroom Attendance Report, Grade Records and
Home Visitation Records. I only do this alone because my co-interns were not present.

To sum up this week I’ve done a lot works and learned or experienced the
pressure and stress being a teacher and really enjoyed it.

WEEK 17

This is my last week of On-the-Job Training in the Administrative Office of Sto.

Tomas Integrated High School. This week I’m with BBTLEd fourth year who finished
also their practice teaching. Together we present the Certificate of Appreciation and our
honorarium to the school principal Mrs. Ernila B. Baganaya. Also expressed our deepest
gratitude for catering us as interns and practice teachers. The next day was the moving up
and graduation ceremony. The program was smooth and there is trouble and after that we
had our lunch together with all teachers and school personel.

The next Monday July 17 I formally had my farewell to our cooperating

administrative officers Ms. Gail Balanoba and Sir Gilbert Recoco. I brought some
avocados that they’ve shared with other teachers. I was happy because I will finally finish
my training but somehow sad because I will be leaving the office where I had lots of
memories and I will be missing the people that became close to me for a period of time.
Despite the sorrow of leaving them, I am still happy that once in my life, I have met
people like them in my life who taught me things related to my chosen course, and most
importantly, they helped me to be the best that I can be.

They are the ones who helped me in molding myself to be the individual I am
right now. They challenged my skills, abilities and knowledge and gave me a chance to
prove myself to them. It is a very heartwarming thing to know that there are people who
believe in me. I’m very grateful because I made them proud of what I have accomplished
during my training and they were very thankful for everything that I have helped them
with.

Now I am excited with coming semester because of the classroom observations

and practice teaching again this Patrick Dinson B. Tolentino Signing off.
