Class – XII

Time allowed – 3 hours Maximum marks 70


General Instructions:

(i) All questions are compulsory

(ii) There are 30 questions in total, Questions 1 to 8 carry one mark each, questions 9
to 18 carry two marks each, questions 19 to 27 carry three marks each and
questions 28 to 30 carry 5 marks each.

(iii) There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in one
question of two marks, one question of three marks and all three questions of five
marks each. You have to attempt only one of the given choices in such questions

(iv) Use of calculators is not permitted.

Q.23 Draw a diagram to show the refraction of light through glass prism. Hence obtain

and resonant frequency of the ckt.
(b) When a voltage of 120 V is impressed across the primary of transformer
the current in the primary is 1.85 A. Find the voltage across the
secondary when it delivers 150 mA. The efficiency of transformer is 95%

(a) In the given circuit the potential difference across the inductor L and
resister R are 200 V and 150 V respectively and the r.m.s. value of current
is 5A. Calculate (1) the impedance of the circuit and phase angle between
the voltage and the current

(b) An ac voltage V = Vo Sin w t is applied across a pure capacitor of


capacitance C. Find an expression for current flowing through it. Show
mathematically the current flowing through it leads the applied voltage by
angle

Q.30 (a) Draw a ray diagram to show the image formation in a refracting type
astronomical telescope in the near point adjustment. Write down the
expression for its magnifying power. Why should the diameter of the
objective of telescope be larger.

(b) A converging & a diverging lens of equal focal lengths are placed Co-
axially in contact. Find the power & the focal length of the combination.

(a) In young’s double slit experiment deduce the conditions for constructive
and destructive interference.

(b) A small pin fixed on a table top is viewed from above from a distance of
50cm. By what distance the pin appear to be raised if it is viewed from the
same point through a 15 cm thick glass slab held parallel to the table.
Does the answer depend on the location of slab.
