• Included are two different version s of writing rubrics to use
for providing feedback to students and to take a grade on
written work.

– The first rubric would be used strictly for grading purposes.

– I also use the first rubric to grade sentences written to practice our
weekly spelling and/or sight word list.
– The second rubric can easily be used for graded work as well. It is
written with “I statements” so that the student can read the rubric prior
to beginning a writing assignment. This way, they know exactly what
you, as a teacher, are expecting when looking at their completed written
work. The students writes their name at the top and keeps it with them
at their desk in order to focus on the expectations you have set for their
completed work. It is turned in with the final product.
– Mini-books: Use as a writing work station prompt. Feel free to add your
own cover to the blank writing pages to create mini-books specific to
your current classroom theme.
– Single writing sheets: Use for writing station prompts or as a whole
group writing assignment.
