    Essay #3: Entertainment and Assumptions Throughout the semester we have been studying different topics related to the

    theme of media and technology. You have learned to develop arguments using your personal opinions, values, and beliefs as support. In addition, you have learned how to conduct primary research through observation and interviews to support your arguments. This third assignment, asks you to take those skills a step further by drawing on secondary research which involves analysis and critical thinking of a secondary source. For this short assignment you must choose one of the assumptions about entertainment in your text book Remix and develop an argument where you either agree or disagree with it. Choose one of the assumptions from chapter 5 below: 1. Entertainment is just for fun. 2. Entertainment is merely a reflection of culture. 3. Entertainment is a personal choice. To support your essay, in addition to your own opinion, you must use at least one article from the three we read in the chapter. This means use quotes and examples from the article that you feel will help prove your argument. They include: Everything Bad is Good For You-Steven Johnson Hip Hop Life-DeSean Robinson Pearls Before Breakfast-Gene Weingarten You should also use information you gathered from your entertainment journal activity, In addition, dont be afraid to draw on your observation and interview skills. Brass Tacks: 1. Your paper must make an argument in support of or against one of the assumptions above. 2. You must include references from one of the articles in your text book listed above. 3. You must use examples from your entertainment journal. 4. The paper should be at least 2 pages, but not more than 3.
