Dutch Boy® Product: EM 101

Dirt fighter ®
Flat interior latex Series 200

Description and uses Lead free Flat finish emulsion type paint designed for use on interior walls and ceilings.
It has a low odor, excellent color stability, easy touch up and no lop marks
It is ideal for use on residential and commercial institutional surfaces.
Besides its outstanding durability and wash ability, it can be used on new or previously
painted surfaces such as plaster, wallboard, cement, brick, masonry, and wood surfaces.

 If surface is absorbent, sealer 20 is recommended


 New or old wood surfaces would require undercoat 55

Composition and materials An acrylic copolymer emulsion type paint, which dries rapidly to a uniform finish, and on
most surfaces, requires no special primer. It is also composed of titanium dioxide, extenders
and additives.

Type: A water soluble acrylic copolymer emulsion

Color: As specified in color card.


Special colors could be provided upon special request.

Finish: Lusterless Flat 0-5 unit @ 85°

Fineness of grind: 4-5 Hegman


Viscosity @25°C: 108±5Krebs Units
pH-Value 8-9
Total solid by volume: 37.3±0.5%
Weight per gallon: 12.2 ±0.05lbs

Curing mechanism: Coalescence

Performance: Meets the performance requirements, not necessarily composition, of federal


specification: TT-P-29J; TT-P-1728A; TT-P-2119,CLASS1

Flash point: Water based material. Above 201°F or 94 °C (Pensky-Martin closed Cup)

Shelf life: 2 years unopened @ 77°F or 25°C

Recommended film thickness: 4 mils wet 1.5 mils dry

Spreading rate: Suggested: 45m²/gallon, depending upon the porosity of the surfaces and method of
application.
Theoretical, no loss: 50m²/gallon @ 1 mil dry.

Drying time: (temperature & humidity dependent)


@ 77°F or 25°C & 50% RH, 4.0 mils wet.
Dust free: 1 hour. Recoat: 8-12 hrs.

Packaging: In cylindrical containers of the following capacities:


1U.S Gallon = 3.785 liters
1 Pail = 5 U.S. gallons = 18.925 liters.

Application condition: Application temperature: this paint, the substrate and air temperature must be minimum 50°F
or 10°C and max. 100°F or 38°C at time of application

Method of application: Mix paint well before use.

Thinning: Dilute with water between 25-30% by volume.


1 Quart = 0.95 liters

Surface Preparation: OLD SURFACES: Surface must be free of all loose and foreign matter. Cracks and gouges
should be cleaned and repaired with appropriate putty. After putty has been left to dry
overnight, sand lightly and spot prime with Wall Primer 50 or undercoat 55/57/60 on wood,
concrete and plaster surfaces. Allow to dry overnight. After adequate surface preparation,
proceed as with new surfaces.

NEW SURFACES: New surfaces should be sanded smooth and wiped clean with a damp
cloth. One coat of primer should be applied, followed by one or more coats of Dirt Fighter.

PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES: Glossy surfaces must be dulled by sanding then


wiped clean with a damp cloth. Any detergent used to clean surfaces must be removed
completely by rinsing. Imperfections should be repaired as aforementioned in the preparation
of old surfaces. One coat of Dirt Fighter will usually suffice over old surfaces that are in
good condition except when used over a sharply contrasted color. In this case and if the
surface is very porous two coats are required allowing 6-8hours drying time between the two
coats under normal conditions or preferably overnight.

Application Tools: This product may be applied by any of the following recommended methods:

1. Airless spray: Pressure: 2000PSI Filter: 80mesh Tip: 0.21˝x 65°


2. Conventional spray: Air Pressure: 40PSI Fluid pressure: 15-20PSI Cap Tip: 704

3. Brush: high quality brush
4. Roller: ¼″ to ¾″

Precautions: Do not take internally.


Close container after each use.
Protect from freezing.
Keep out of reach of children.

Clean up: Clean up drips and spatters at once with damp cloth.
Clean up equipment with warm water.
