KANCIL SCIENCE COMPETITION 2024 (Secondary)

Kancil Science Competition is an annual competition for primary, secondary, and pre-university
students that aims to challenge students’ science knowledge through critical thinking, problem-
solving, and general scientific knowledge

OUR OBJECTIVES

Type of Registration:

1. ONLY be made by Teacher-in-charge in schools


● Early registration date: 1 Dec - 15 March 2024 (10% discount: register and pay during

this period ONLY)

● Normal registration date: 16 March - 30 April 2024

2. Individual (by parents/participant)

Registration date: 16 March - 23 April 2024

Mode of Competition:

● Offline (paper-based ONLY). The competition will be conducted in the schools/tuition

centers under the supervision of the teacher-in-charge.

● Competition date: 12 June 2024

Fee per student:

● RM36.00 (Early Bird)

● RM40.00 (Normal)

Categories:

The questions are designed and formulated by education professionals to stimulate students’
inquiry-based science skills for each category.

International School System:

● Alpha: Year 1,2,&3


● Beta: Year 4,5,&6

● Gamma: Form 1,2,&3 (Public school), Year 7,8,&9 (International school)

● Delta: Form 4,5,&6 (Public school), Year 10,11,&12 (International school) & Pre-

university.

Students outside the Malaysian school system (e.g. international school or home-schooled
students) can select the appropriate category according to the year of the student enrolled.

Students should be registered into the mentioned categories according to their academic year in
2023/2024 session.

Awards and Certificates:

● Every participant will receive a certificate of participation issued by Kancil Science

Malaysia.

● The allocation of percentage for participants is as follows:


Important Dates:

● Early Bird Registration: 1st Dec 2023 - 15th March 2024

● Normal Registration: 16th March - 30th April 2024

● Competition Day: 12th June 2024

● Result Announcement: September 2024

● This competition is under school ONLY. Individual candidates should register under their

school or find a school that participated and join as a surrogate candidate.

● No refund will be made due to the student's absence during the competition day.

● Students are not allowed to switch to another competition after payments have been made.
Competition Format
Method: Paper-based competition
Questions: 30 MCQ with three level of difficulties (easy, medium, and difficult)
Answering time: 60 minutes
Invigilator: Assigned Teacher-In-Charge
Languages: English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, Tamil

Competition Procedure:
● The students should ONLY be registered by the designated Teacher-In-Charge
● Register at www.contesthub.my/register
● Fill in the teacher’s and school’s details
● Fill in the student details in the List of Competition
● Complete the payment
● The question package and teacher’s guide booklet will be sent to schools/centers
● On the competition day, the schools will conduct the contest at their own venues.
● Schools are responsible for enforcing the regulations of competition
● Schools will send the OMR answer sheets to the Secretariat
● The results will be announced 3 months after the competition
● The certificates and medals (if any) will be posted to the school one month after the result
is published.
