Introductory Message

For the Facilitator:

Welcome to the English 6 Self-Learning Module on Composing clear and


coherent sentences using appropriate grammatical structures: Adverbs of
Frequency!
This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writers utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

Today, let us talk about Adverbs of Frequency.

Adverbs of Frequency express how often we do something.We use


adverbs of frequency to say how often we do something. Adverbs of frequency
are often used with the present simple because they indicate repeated or
routine activities.

Read the sentence.


1. We often meet our cousins in Quezon City
2. They seldom complete their work in school.
3. Sometimes, the teachers give long assignment.
4·The doctors visit their patients frequently.
5· Deanne goes to the mall rarely.
Generally speaking, adverbs of frequency come before the main verb.
Examples:
We often meet our cousins in Quezon City.
They seldom complete their work in school.

The adverbs occasionally, sometimes, often, frequently, and


usually may also be found at the beginning or end of the sentence.
Examples:
Sometimes, the teachers give long assignments.
The doctors visit their patients frequently.

The adverbs rarely and seldom maybe found at the end of a sentence.
Examples:
Bea eats meat very seldom.

Deanne goes to the mall rarely
