1. Fashion shows are fashion’s favorites. What is the point of top-end fashion?
Most fashion companies spend much on a fashion show or haute couture, although these
costs an arm and a leg. There are three reasons. Firstly, a fashion show can create a buzz. The
unique haute couture is made of valuable fabric, made by a long hard-working day of the
talented tailor. Therefore, they can make a strong impression on guests, and audiences, and
make them think about them all day. One day, when they come across this brand, the higher
ability they buy its product. The next reason is creating a brand image. Top-end fashion often
is worn by Hollywood celebrities and top stars. It helps increase the trust level of existing
customers and further helps in customer retention. Knowing your brand is credible and
recognizable, they’ll bounce less, stay longer, be more loyal. Holding fashion shows helps
companies generate publicity cheaper and effectively. It is more costly than spending 80000$
a page on advertisements in glossy fashion magazines. The fact that nowadays fewer people
buy a magazine to read, the fashion show is published on TV, and posters in the street can
approach a higher level of potential customer.
2. What do you understand by “fashion is a business”?
Many people say that “fashion is a business” because it adds up economic weight. Firstly,
fashion generates huge profit. For fashion world, perhaps you know London fashion week
(LFW), one of the largest fashion weeks in the world. It affects tourism, retail sales and attracts
the attention of experts in the industry, fashion lovers as well as the press. In just five days of
this event, the value of orders estimated up to about 100 million pounds. Then, creating job is
another key factor of fashion industry. There are plenty of other jobs in the industry such as
designer, model, fashion photographer, … France’s fashion is an example. The fashion and
luxury goods industry employs over 200000 jobs for their industrial production. Last but not
least, like electric industry, facility industry, fashion industry holds mass production. In a day, a
machine can produce about 20 formal T-shirts
3. The branding process is an important part of marketing. Please clarify this statement
There are 2 steps to branding a company. They are creating a brand and promoting the brand
image. Every founder must pay attention to these steps because of some reasons. Firstly, the
brand helps identify and recognize the products of the company. For example, when you go to
the store, if you see a bottle without any brand or label, a question will appear in your mind: Is
it safe? Should I buy it or not? And then, you see a Aquafina or Lavie bottle beside it, the
higher capacity is you will buy the second one. Secondly, with an adequate business plan, the
brand can build the trust of the investors. A solid brand can make the investor belief in this
company and then invest money in it. Thirdly, creating employee satisfaction and attracting
new talents is a merit of a famous brand. Branding provides value inside the company as well.
A company with great branding will have an easier time getting employees to feel like they’re
involved with something more than just a job.
IV. Passion
1. What lessons have you learned from the article “Passion into profit”?
The first lesson is that I must have a strong passion for what I am doing. The passion fuels my motivation to achieve
success. When I lose confidence or faith, the passion can help me come over this period. Secondly, the travelling and
learning from people all over the world is also a way to find out an ideal business idea.
There are many lessons that I learn from this reading text.
- Travel and learn from people all over the world
- Having strong passion for what are you doing
- Being more patient and resilent when encoutering obstacle
- Starting a small business and growing up
2. “Being passionate about what you are doing is the secret to success.” What do you think of this statement?
3. What makes a successful company?
4. When u feel passionate about sth u should work hard and become successful. What else motivate people
- Incentive program for employees: Incentives themselves are rewards and benefits used
to motivate positive behaviors in your workforce. They come in many forms: more time
off, and additional flexibility in work arrangements. Incentive programs work because
they leverage human behavior. Research showed that immediate rewards increase
motivation by linking an activity and a goal, so employees rewarded more frequently
are more motivated to complete associated tasks.
- Friendly working environment: A positive working environment is a workplace that
promotes employee safety, growth, and goal attainment. Companies can achieve a
positive working environment by focusing on their overall culture, supporting employee
growth, and making employees feel safe and comfortable. When your employer
provides positive reinforcement, it can make you feel like a valuable contribution to the
company, and it may motivate you to continue or improve upon this behavior.
- Give positive feedback: Positive feedback is communication that recognizes another's
strengths, achievements, or successes. Positive feedback boosts our sense of
achievement which, is a powerful source of motivation.
V, Location

VI, Selling
1. How can companies attract attention when they launch a new product?
2. Companies use several different methods to promote and sell products or services. Could u describe the
method often used by companies? Listening 1
3. What are some promotion method that companies use to get the hard to reach student?
Perhaps the most effective way to promote products to a large number of people is to
advertise. There are several different advertising media that we can use, for example TV and
radio. There's also the press - that's newspapers and magazines- and the cinema. And of
course, the internet is extremely important now. Advertising is a good way to reach a lot of
potential customers- as well. but there are other selling techniques
There's personal selling, for example. This means employing sales representatives to make
regular sales visits to customers and potential customers.
Then there are sales promotions. These include special offers, for example: "Ten per cent
reduction in price'; or 'Buy satellite TV and get free installation' and discounts that encourage
people to buy.
Other examples of sales promotions include competitions and free gifts.
Another method of promotion is public relations. This involves creating news and getting
information about the company or its products in the press or on TV. For example, when a pop
star launches a new album, people write about it in the music magazines. And this brings
publicity for the company.
The next method is direct marketing. This includes all sales activities where consumers can
buy the product immediately. An example is direct mail where you send information to
potential customers by post. We can also include TV and internet shopping in this category.
And then there's telephone selling, where sales staff telephone people and try to sell products
over the phone.
And finally, we have sponsorship. A company pays money to have its name linked to an event
or a person such as a sports personality. The person wears clothing with the name of the
company on it.
4. Who do you think benefits most from surveillance government, company or individual?
- It is impossible to point out who benefits most. As with the government, surveillance
cameras will help ensure safety and social order, thereby reducing the crime rate in society.
And that also brings many benefits to each individual in that society. That is, when the crime
rate decreases, each citizen will feel safe, and their property and valuables will be preserved.
Not only that, cameras also bring a lot of benefits to business. Cameras will help companies
operate and monitor employees in the most effective way, thereby improving employee
performance.
5. What are the dangers of too much surveillance?
- Too much surveillance creates a lot of disadvantages for our lives. It makes us less free
and less safe. Our every move is tracked and monitored down to the smallest detail because
surveillance is everywhere, from street corner cameras to the subject of books and movies.
Therefore, some people can take advantage of it to steal other people's information for
negative purposes.
