1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. Include recommendations for the method of
application, primer, number of coats, coverage or thickness, and protection course. For coatings,
indicating VOC content.
B. Material Certificates: For each product, signed by manufacturers.
C. Manufacturer's printed specification on the product with installation instructions, including procedures
and materials for termination, penetrations, flashing, compatibility and bonding.
D. The Contractor shall provide with his submittals all the relevant documentation.
E. The Shop Drawings indicating the layout of sheets including side and end laps, mechanical equipment
flashing, parapet flashing and drain details. All details shall be with suitable drawing scale.
F. Samples of all components required to complete the works.
G. Accepted samples will be retained to serve as a basis for checking at the time of delivery of materials to
Site. The manufacturer shall furnish when requested, proof of origin and quality of the materials that
will be used or details of where it has previously been applied. Only materials specified by the Engineer
will be permitted to be used. The Engineer will stipulate acceptance tests and their mode of operation to
be carried out on materials supplied by the Contractor.
H. Laboratory Test Reports: For coatings, indicating compliance with requirements for low-emitting
materials.
1.7 WARRANTY
A. Provide written warranty, agreeing to replace and repair defective materials and workmanship.
Warranty includes responsibility for removal and replacement of other work which conceals sheet
waterproofing. Ten (10) year warranty (covering products and installation) from the date of Taking
Over Certificate shall be provided by the Contractor, manufacturer and installer. Warranty shall include:
1. Defective materials and installation.
2. Failure to comply with requirements stated in technical specifications.
3. Structural failures including, but not limited to, excessive deflection.
4. Delamination of exterior or interior facing materials.
5. Making good and installation and finishing all items that are disturbed and that may be required
due to repair or replacement of defective items. Coordinate with Employer, manufacturer, and
installer of adjacent disturbed items to ensure that their warranty is not cancelled due to the repair
work.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.6 GUNITING
A. Gunite shall have average 125mm thick using one part of SRC and four parts of crushed washed
aggregate by weight to achieve 30N/mm² at 28days.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with applicator present, for suitable conditions where
waterproofing is to be applied.
B. Proceed with application only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
C. Notify the Engineer in writing of active leaks or defects that would affect system performance.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Protect other work from damage caused by cleaning, preparation, and application of waterproofing.
Provide temporary enclosure to confine spraying operation and to ensure adequate ambient
temperatures and ventilation conditions for application.
B. Do not allow waterproofing, patching, and plugging materials to enter reveals or annular spaces
intended for resilient sealants or gaskets, such as joint spaces between pipes and pipe sleeves.
C. Stop active water leaks with plugging compound according to waterproofing manufacturer's written
instructions.
D. Repair damaged or unsatisfactory substrate with patching compound according to manufacturer's
written instructions.
B. The application shall be in two coats either spray applied or brush applied. Typical layer thickness shall
be 1mm.Second coat shall be applied after the curing of the first layer at least 6hours at 20ºC.
C. Waterproofing works shall be executed by a Subcontractor recommended by the waterproofing
manufacturer and approved by the Engineer.
D. Curing: Moist-cure waterproofing for not less than three (3) days immediately after the application has
set, followed by air drying before being placed in service unless otherwise recommended in writing by
the manufacturer.

1. Qualification data for firms and persons specified in "Quality Assurance" article to demonstrate
their capabilities and experience. Include list of completed projects with project name, addresses,
names of Engineer and Employers, and other information specified.
2. For Testing Agency Qualifications include proof of qualifications in the form of a recent report on
the inspection of the testing agency by a recognized authority.
E. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. For coatings, indicating VOC content.
F. Laboratory Test Reports: For coatings, indicating compliance with requirements for low-emitting
materials.
G. Shop Drawings indicating the layout of sheets and details with suitable drawing scale.
1.8 WARRANTY
A. A written certification shall be required that insulation meets Thermal Warranty.
B. Warranty shall also state that roof insulation’s actual thermal resistance will not vary by more than 10%
from the designed R-Value for a period of fifteen (15) years.
C. Submit documented proof that the material has a proven record of successful performance for more than
10 years, confirmed by at least five local projects.
D. Comply with all requirements of the project and the local Authorities.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.8 ADHESIVE
A. As recommended by insulation manufacturer for the specific application with demonstrated capacity to
bond insulation securely to substrate indicated without damaging insulation and substrates.
B. VOC Limits for Installation Adhesives and Glues: Use installation adhesives that comply with the
following limits for VOC content when calculated according to South Coast Air Quality Management
District Rule 1168:
1. Adhesive: 70g/L.
2.9 ACCESSORIES
A. Insulation Fasteners: Impale clip type of plain finished steel; of the type to be adhered to the surface to
receive rigid insulation; length to suit insulation thickness; capable of securely and rigidly fasting
insulation in place.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Surfaces to receive insulation: Ensure that surfaces to receive insulation are clean, dry, and suitable to
provide a complete and satisfactory installation.
5. Thermal insulation to internal walls &soffits shall be concealed with cement/gypsum boards at
locations indicated on the Drawings.
D. Insulation Fasteners
1. Apply fasteners to surfaces in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Check for
compatibility of adhesive with any concrete form release agent used.
2. Provide the minimum of four fasteners per 600mm x 1200mm board, allowing for a maximum
load per fastener of 1.5kg.
3. Install separation fabric according to manufacturer’s written instruction, overlapping sides and
ends.
4. Where there is return air movement allowed through, the insulation shall be provided with the
suitable black fabric covering to avoid glass fibres mixing with return air.
3.3 PROTECTION
A. Protect all insulation from unnecessary construction traffic after installation. Protection shall be
approved and shall prevent any damage likely to result in a decrease in the efficiency of the insulation.
B. Protect from long periods of exposure before being concealed, by proper sequencing of the work.

1.5 SUBMITTALS
A. Product data for each type of product specified.
B. The Shop Drawings detailing materials, installation methods, and relationships to adjoining
construction for each through-penetration firestop system, and each kind of construction condition
penetrated and penetrating item. Include firestop design designation of qualified testing and inspecting
agency evidencing compliance with requirements for each condition indicated.
C. Product certificates signed by manufacturers of firestopping products certifying that their products
comply with specific requirements.
D. Product test reports from and based on tests performed by, a qualified testing and inspecting agency
evidencing compliance of firestopping with requirements based on comprehensive testing of current
products.
E. Qualification data for firms and persons specified in "Quality Assurance" article to demonstrate their
capabilities and experience. Include the list of completed projects with project names, addresses, names
of engineers and employers, and other information specified.
F. Certification by firestopping manufacturer that products supplied complies with local regulations
controlling use of volatile organic components (VOCs) and is nontoxic to building occupants.
1.9 WARRANTY
A. Manufacturer’s Warranty: Provide complete system warranty in which Manufacturer, Contractor and
Installer are jointly and severally liable and agree to repair or replace component of firestopping in case
of failure in materials or workmanship to meet the specifications within specified warranty period.
1. Warranty Period: 5 years from date of Taking Over.
1.10 MOCK-UPS
A. Install mock-ups for each firestopping system, including typical penetrations, construction joints, and
perimeter firestop systems, as required to maintain each fireresistive rated assembly.
1. System Components: Include as necessary to illustrate compete system for each hourly rating.
2. UL Classified System: Attach drawing and instructions required for installation adjacent to each
mock-up. Do not remove prior to acceptance of mock-up
3. Testing and Verification: Determine depth and configuration of each fieldinstalled firestopping
system. Destructive testing is not required for factorymetered systems.
4. Obtain Engineer's approval of mockups before start of Work.
5. Retain and maintain mockups during construction in an undisturbed condition as a standard for
judging the completed Work.
a. Approved mockups in an undisturbed condition at the time of Substantial Completion may
become part of the completed Work.
B. Fire-Test-Response Characteristics: Penetration firestopping shall comply with the following
requirements:
1. Penetration firestopping tests are performed by a qualified testing agency acceptable to authorities
having jurisdiction.
2. Penetration firestopping is identical to those tested per testing standard referenced in "Penetration
Firestopping" Article. Provide rated systems complying with the following requirements:
3. Penetration firestopping products bear classification marking of qualified testing and inspecting
agency.
4. Classification markings on penetration firestopping correspond to designations as per applicable
authorities.
1.11 COORDINATION:
A. Coordinate construction of openings and penetrating items to ensure that penetration firestopping
systems are installed according to specified requirements.
B. Coordinate sizing of sleeves, openings, core-drilled holes, or cut openings to accommodate penetration
firestopping systems.
C. Notify Employer's inspecting agency at least seven days in advance of through-penetration firestop
system installations; confirm dates and times on days preceding each series of installations.
D. Do not cover up through-penetration firestop system installations that will become concealed behind
other construction until each installation has been examined by Employer's inspecting agency and
building inspector, if required by authorities having jurisdiction.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
J. Use flexible fire seal separation in raised floor areas where indicated on the Drawings.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine substrates and conditions with the installer present, for compliance, with requirements for
opening configurations, penetrating items, substrates, and other conditions affecting the performance of
firestopping. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Surface cleaning: Clean out openings and joints immediately prior to installing firestopping to comply
with recommendations of firestopping manufacturer and the following requirements:
B. Remove all foreign materials from surfaces of opening and joint substrates and from penetrating items
that could interfere with adhesion of firestopping.
C. Clean opening and joint substrates and penetrating items to produce clean, sound surface capable of
developing the optimum bond with firestopping. Remove loose particles remaining from cleaning
operation.
D. Priming: Prime substrate where recommended by firestopping manufacturer using the manufacturers
recommended products and methods. Confine primers to areas of bond; do not allow spillage and
migration onto exposed surfaces.
E. Masking Tape: Use masking tape to prevent firestopping from contacting adjoining surfaces that will
remain exposed upon completion of Works, and that would otherwise be permanently stained or
damaged by such contact or by cleaning methods used to remove smears from firestopping materials.
Remove tape as soon as it is impossible to do so without disturbing firestopping seal with substrates.
3.3 INSTALLATION
A. Install forming/ damming materials and other accessories of types required to support fill materials
during their application and in the position needed to produce the cross-sectional shapes and depths
required to achieve fire ratings of designated through-penetration firestop systems. After installing fill
materials, remove combustible forming materials and other accessories not indicated as permanent
components of firestop systems.
B. Install joint fillers to provide support of sealants application and at the position required to produce the
cross-sectional shapes and depths of installed sealants relative to joint widths that allow optimum
sealant movement capability and develop fire-resistance rating required.
C. Install sealant by proven techniques that result in sealants directly contacting and fully wetting joint
substrates, completely filling recesses provided for each joint configuration, and providing uniform,
cross-sectional shapes and depths relative to the joint width that provide optimum sealant movement
capability. Install sealants at the same time joint fillers are installed.
D. Tool nonsag sealant immediately after sealant application and prior to the time skinning or curing
begins. Form smooth, uniform beads of configuration indicated or required to produce fire-resistance
rating, as well as to eliminate air pockets, and to ensure contact and adhesion of sealant with sides of
joint. Remove excess sealant from the surface adjacent to joint. Do not use tooling agents that
discolour sealants or adjacent surfaces or are not approved by sealant manufacturer.
E. Cleaning
1. Clean off excess fill materials and sealants adjacent to openings and joints as work progresses by
methods and with cleaning materials approved by manufacturers of firestopping products and of
products in which opening and joints occur.
2. Protect firestopping during and after curing period of contact with contaminating substances or
from damage resulting from construction operations or other causes so that they are without
deterioration or damage at the time of Taking Over. If, despite such protection, damage or
deterioration occurs, cut out and remove damaged or deteriorated fire stopping immediately and

1.6 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each joint-sealant product indicated.
B. Samples for Initial Selection: Manufacturer's colour charts consisting of strips of cured sealants
showing the full range of colours available for each product exposed to view.
C. Samples for Verification: For each type and colour of joint sealant required, provide samples with joint
sealants in 13mm wide joints formed between two 300mm long strips of material matching the
appearance of exposed surfaces adjacent to joint sealants.
D. Product Certificates: For each type of joint sealant and accessory, signed by the product manufacturer.
E. Qualification Data: For Manufacturer, Installer and testing agency to demonstrate their capabilities and
experience. Include lists of five completed projects (minimum) of a similar nature carried out
successfully with project names and addresses, names and addresses of engineers and employers, and
any other information specified or required by Engineer.
F. Installer Certificates: Signed by product manufacturer certifying that installer is approved, authorized,
or licensed by manufacturer to install his products.
G. Preconstruction Field Test Reports: Indicate which sealants and joint preparation methods resulted in
optimum adhesion to joint substrates based on preconstruction testing specified in “quality assurance”
Article.
H. Compatibility and Adhesion Test Reports: From sealant manufacturer, indicating the following:
1. Materials forming joint substrates and joint-sealant backings have been tested for compatibility
and adhesion with joint sealants.
2. Interpretation of test results and written recommendations for primers and substrate preparation
needed for adhesion.
I. Field Test Report Log: For each elastomeric sealant application.
J. Product Test Report Log: Based on comprehensive testing of product formulations performed by a
qualified testing agency, indicating that sealants comply with requirements.
K. Warranties: Special warranties specified in the Section.
L. Submit a detailed schedule of sealant usage for all locations. List each sealant material, joint fillers,
colour and product data for each location of use.
1.10 WARRANTY
A. Special Warranty: Written warranty, signed by Contractor agreeing to repair or replace joint sealants
that do not comply with performance and other requirements specified in this Section within specified
warranty period.
B. Warranty Period: Five (5) years from the date of Taking Over.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
F. VOC Content of Interior Sealants: Provide sealants and sealant primers for use inside the
weatherproofing system that complies with the following limits for VOC content when calculated
according to 40 CFR 59, Part 59, Sub part D (EPA Method 24):
1. Architectural Sealants: 250 g/L.
2. Sealant Primers for Nonporous Substrates: 250 g/L.
3. Sealant Primers for Porous Substrates: 775 g/L.

3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine joints indicated to receive joint sealants, with Installer present, for compliance with
requirements for joint configuration, installation tolerances, and other conditions affecting joint-sealant
performance.
B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
C. Surface Cleaning of Joints: Clean out joints immediately before installing joint sealants to comply with
joint sealant manufacturer's written instructions and the following requirements:
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Remove all foreign material from joint substrates that could interfere with adhesion of joint sealant,
including dust, paints (except for permanent, protective coatings tested and approved for sealant
adhesion and compatibility by sealant manufacturer), old joint sealants, oil, grease, waterproofing,
water repellents, water and surface dirt.
B. Clean porous joint substrate surfaces like concrete, masonry, unglazed surfaces of ceramic tiles etc. by
brushing, grinding, blast cleaning, mechanical abrading, or a combination of these methods to produce a
clean, sound substrate capable of developing the optimum bond with joint sealants.
C. Remove loose particles remaining from above cleaning operations by vacuuming or blowing out joints
with oil-free compressed air.
D. Remove laitance and form-release agents from concrete.
E. Clean, nonporous surfaces like metal, glass, porcelain enamel, glazed surfaces of ceramic tile etc. with
chemical cleaners or other means that do not stain, harm substrates, or leave residues capable of
interfering with adhesion of joint sealants.
F. Joint Priming: Prime joint substrates where recommended in writing by joint sealant manufacturer,
based on preconstruction joint-sealant-substrate tests or prior experience. Apply primer to comply with
joint sealant manufacturer's written instructions. Confine primers to areas of joint-sealant bond; do not
allow spillage or migration onto adjoining surfaces.
G. Masking Tape: Use masking tape where required to prevent contact of sealant with adjoining surfaces
that otherwise would be permanently stained or damaged by such contact or by cleaning methods
required to remove sealant smears. Remove tape immediately after tooling without disturbing joint
seal.
C. Acoustical Sealant Application Standard: Comply with recommendations of ASTM C 919 for the use of
joint sealants in acoustical applications as applicable to materials, applications, and conditions
indicated.
D. Install sealant backings of the type indicated or required to support sealants during application and at
the position required to produce cross-sectional shapes and depths of installed sealants relative to joint
widths that allow optimum sealant movement capability.
1. Do not leave gaps between ends of sealant backings.
2. Do not stretch, twist, puncture, or tear sealant backings.
3. Remove absorbent sealant backings that have become wet before sealant application and replace
them with dry materials.
E. Install bond-breaker tape behind sealants where sealant backings are not used between sealants and
back of joints.
F. Install sealants by proven techniques to comply with the following and at the same time backings are
installed:
1. Place sealants so they directly contact and fully wet joint substrates.
2. Completely fill recesses provided for each joint configuration.
3. Produce a uniform, cross-sectional shapes and depths relative to joint widths that allow optimum
sealant movement capability.
G. Tooling of Non-sag Sealants: Immediately after sealant application and before skinning or curing
begins, tool sealants according to requirements specified below to form smooth, uniform beads of
H. Configuration indicated; to eliminate air pockets, and to ensure contact and adhesion of sealant with
sides of joint.
1. Remove excess sealants from surfaces adjacent to joint.
2. Use tooling agents that are approved in writing by sealant manufacturer and that do not discolour
sealants or adjacent surfaces.
3. Provide concave joint configuration per Figure 5A in ASTM C 1193, unless otherwise indicated.
4. Provide flush joint configuration, per Figure 5B in ASTM C 1193, where indicated.
5. Provide recessed joint configuration, per Figure 5C in ASTM C 1193, of recess depth and at
locations indicated.
a. Use masking tape to protect adjacent surfaces of recessed tooled joints.
3.5 CLEANING
A. Clean off excess sealants or sealant smears adjacent to joints as the Work progresses by methods and
with cleaning materials approved in writing by manufacturers of joint sealants and of products in which
joints occur.
3.6 PROTECTION
A. Protect joint sealants during and after curing period of contact with contaminating substances and from
damage resulting from construction operations or other causes, so sealants are without deterioration or
damage at the time of Taking Over. If, despite such protection, damage or deterioration occurs, cut out
and remove damaged or deteriorated joint sealants immediately, so installations with repaired areas are
indistinguishable from the original work.
