    Sir:

    I would like to convey through this letter my intent to seek admission in the Master of Arts in

    Mathematics, one of the graduate programs under the Institute of Mathematics. I took my

    undergraduate studies in the UP School of Statistics and successfully completed the Bachelor of Science

    in Statistics (BS Statistics) program as cum laude in 2017. Currently, I am teaching core subjects such as

    General Mathematics as well as Statistics and Probability in senior high school. I have been in this

    profession for almost five years before I decided to pursue a master’s degree in my Alma Mater to

    further advance my knowledge and skills content-wise.

    I firmly believe that the Master of Arts in Mathematics (MA Math) program offered by the Institute of

    Mathematics best fits my purpose and I am positive that I would learn a lot of valuable things that can

    hugely aid me in my profession. Since a good number of the required courses in the UPD BS Statistics

    program were from Institute of Mathematics, I can say that I have experienced and witnessed just how

    competent the Math professors are in their respective expertise which only strengthened my desire to

    take my master’s degree in this University.

    I also believe that I have what it takes to finish this program given my previous academic record in both

    my Mathematics and Statistics undergraduate courses. With this, I am confident that I have sufficiently

    built up a strong foundation in calculus, matrix algebra, and even theoretical probability courses to help

    me get through the two years I am about to enter in case I get accepted to this program.

    Lastly, the University of the Philippines can expect my full commitment to the program as I am

    determined to equip myself with new learnings that I hope to apply in my profession.
