Banking
The good and bad
A. ______________________________________?
Randa
I mostly use my bank for my everyday needs and monitoring my spending. I have an app on my phone that is
excellent because it allows me to easily check my current account in a very safe way. This helps me to see how
1
much I’ve got to spend and for each month. This month, for example, I’ve got several birthdays
2
in my family, so I know I will have to use some of my money for that. I’m also trying to money
for a new camera, so each month, I make sure that I allow for that with my spending too. I can also use it to
3
money to other accounts. I have a savings account with the same bank where I can put money
for the future and I can also send money to my family easily if I need to. Usually when my mum or dad have a
birthday, one of the children will buy a big present for them and we will all send money to them for it. Last year
we bought my parents a trip to Paris. They loved it, but Dad ate too much cheese.
B. ______________________________________?
Shannon
I have a small business making furniture from wood. When I started, I had a place to do my work, but I didn’t have
4
all the tools I needed and they are quite costly. So I asked the bank to me the money and I pay
them back each month from my profits. I couldn’t have started the business without them. After a while, I was
5
able to make enough money to pay all of the money back that I . Now, I’m planning to open a
6
second place and employ some people to work for me. So I’m going to ask the bank to me some
money for the building I need. With the money I will make, I should be able to pay it off in the next ten years.
C. ______________________________________?
Chris
7
Yes, I have. For my job, I currency internationally. One time, I was given the wrong rate by
8
a bank and I lost some money. I only realised later when I had the money and the numbers
didn’t add up. They reimbursed me in the end because they admitted that they made a mistake, but it still cost me
time and effort. I was quite stressed about it. So I try not to use that bank any more, even though I think it was
an honest mistake.
