SCI 9 LP - Week 2

The document outlines a weekly learning plan for a science class that covers the respiratory and circulatory systems. The plan includes objectives for students to identify blood components, state their functions, discuss blood groups and relationships, and create a flowchart of the blood clotting process. Materials, lesson structure, and assessments are provided.

WEEKLY LEARNING PLAN

Teacher: Charmaine Lei M. Tumamao Date of Instruction:

August 29-September 1, 2023
Subject: Science 9
Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate understanding of:
• How the different structures of the circulatory and respiratory systems work together to
transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body.
Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to:
• Conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the
respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered from school or local health
workers.
Learning Competency:
• Explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to transport nutrients,
gases and other molecules to and from the different parts of the body. (S9LT-la-b-26)
Objectives: A-M-T
I can:
• Identify the different components of blood (A)
• State the functions of the different components of blood (A)
• Discuss the different blood groups that characterize the human population (M)
• Explain the relationship of these blood groups (M)
• Create a flowchart about the blood clotting process (T)
Learning Materials:
• Science Links Worktext in Scientific and Technological Literacy 9
• PowerPoint Presentation
Lesson Proper
Introduction ✓ Elicit and Engage
➢ Ask the students to share their understanding about the Blood. Have
them answer the Quick Check activity found in the worktext.
• Brainstorming: Ask them the following questions:
1. Do you know your blood type? If yes, what is it?
2. Why is blood red in color?
3. Have you experienced having a wound? Did the bleeding stop at
once or did the bleeding take a while to stop?
Instruction ✓ Explore and Explain (PPT presentation)

Lesson 1.2: The Different Blood Groups

Lesson Focus:
The Composition of the Blood, The Different Formed Elements, The ABO
Relationship, The Rh or “D” Blood Factor, The Blood Clotting Process

Describe the function and composition of the blood

• To facilitate discussion, present to the class an illustration of the
components of the blood and ask them to respond to the following:
1. What are the different components of blood?
2. What is the function of the blood in the circulatory system?
Identify the different formed elements in the Blood
• Using a table, ask the class to compare the different formed elements
(RBC, WBC and Platelets) of the blood using the given bases of
comparison.
1. Shape
2. Nucleus
3. Function
4. Drawing

Explain the ABO Blood Relationship

• Have the students explore more about the blood. Show them an illustration
of the variations in the human blood group components.

Elaborate the Rh or “D” Blood Factor

• Let the class elaborate the concept of Rh or “D” Blood factor by discussing
its concept.

Discuss the blood clotting process.

• Explain the process of blood clotting using a flowchart graphic organizer
Integration ✓ Elaborate

Differentiated Activity: The Blood

• Have the students write a story with “Blood” as the main character,
describing how it circulates throughout the body to carry oxygen and
nutrients to various tissues and organs.
Note: Other instructions for this activity is given by the Teacher

✓ Extend
Class Exit
Let the students complete the sentence given by the teacher.
Hi! I am ___________. Today, I learned that _________________________.

✓ Evaluate
On a ¼ sheet of paper, have the students answer a 15-item quiz.

Target Core Self-awareness

Value: Self- management
