CONSTRUCTION METHOD

BRIEF DESCRIPTION :
The Project involves for the Labor and Materials for the Construction of Multi-Species Marine Hatchery at
Brgy. Sabang South, Borongan City, Eastern Samar. The construction work of the structure is stipulated in the approved
program of works.

CONSTRUCTION METHODS

MOBILIZATION / DEMOBILIZATION
The work consist of the mobilization and demobilization of the contractor’s forces and equipment necessary
for performing the work required under the contract. Mobilization shall include all activities and associated costs for
transportation of contractor's personnel, equipment, and operating supplies to the site; establishment of offices, buildings,
and other necessary general facilities for the contractor's operations at the site. Demobilization shall include all activities and
costs for transportation of personnel, equipment, and supplies not required or included in the contract from the site. This
includes the disassembly; removal; and site cleanup of offices, buildings, and other facilities assembled on the site
specifically for this contract.

PROJECT SIGN BOARD


In this item of work is consist of installation of tarpaulin sign board with 2’’x3’’ coco lumber framing as
specified in the drawings.

EARTHWORKS
Site Clearing and Excavation
In this item of work shall consist of clearing, removing and disposing of all debris and vegetation as
designated in the scope of works, except those existing structures that are designated to remain in place or are to be
removed in consonance with other provisions of this specification. The work shall include the preservation from the injury or
defacement of all objects designated to remain.
All excavation shall be made to grade indicated in the approved construction plans. Where the structure site is
covered with any kind of fill, the excavation for all structures shall be made deeper as stated in the plans until the specified safe bearing
capacity of the soil is reached.

BACKFILL AND COMPACTION


Filling materials shall be carried out in layers and shall be compacted by the “Plate Compactors” or other equipment
suitable to achieve a reliable and uniform compaction to the specified standard.
This Item shall consist of the construction of embankment in accordance with this Specification and in conformity with
the lines, grades and dimensions shown on the Plans or established by the Engineer.

STRUCTURAL CONCRETE WORKS AND REINFORCED STEEL BARS WORKS


This item the concrete should be mixed thoroughly such that there is uniform distribution among the cement and
aggregates. The concrete should be vibrated and its forms should be tapped as it is deposited to its final position to prevent formation
of voids in the concrete member which will weaken the building structure.
Water to be used for mixing concrete shall be clean and free from injurious amounts of oil, acids, salt, alkalis and other
organic materials that could affect the strength of the structures. All concrete works for this projects shall be undertaken in accordance
with the standard specifications as stated in the plans. All steel reinforcement for concrete shall be formed accurately according to the
size of the bars as specified in the approved construction plan and they shall be tied together at each bar intersection with the gauge
no. 16 G.I. wire.
FORMWORKS AND SCAFFOLDINGS
Scaffoldings for all of this item shall be adequately supported and braced or tied together to maintain the correct
positions. The scaffoldings shall not be removed until the work has attained and done sufficiently. All framing for the scaffoldings shall
be fitted closely and carefully to avoid accident in the construction site.

MASONRY WORKS
All masonry units should be checked for structural strength. Masonry units should place in accordance with
plans and specifications. All cells of concrete hollow blocks to be laid shall be filled with cement mortar mixture of 1 part of
cement and 3 parts of sand, by volume. All concrete hollow block walls shall be reinforced with 10mm diameter bars both
ways for every concrete hollow block laid horizontally and vertically.

PAINTING WORKS
All surfaces should be clean and free from mortar, dust, grease, rust and other substances that may be presented on
areas to be painted. Surface defects such cracks and holes must be filled with putty and sandpapered before final coat of paint.

PLUMBING WORKS
In this item of work suitable lifting equipment shall be used to shift the pipes from stored place to the
installation site. All necessary safety precautions as per established safety procedure shall be implemented during shifting
and installation. The pipe lengths shall be cut according to the approved shop drawing, and shall be joined using heat
fusion. Jointing of Pipe which is smaller diameter will be joined using the hot plate fusion, while the pipes above 3’’ in
diameter shall be joined using butt fusion machine and as recommended by the Agency Project Engineer. All piping
connections and plumbing and materials shall be in accordance with the specified plans and design. And should be
connected properly and well supported to prevent sagging, displacement or pipe breakage.

CEILING WORKS
All framing of ceiling joist shall be fitted closely and carefully to the required lines and levels, and shall be
secured and place in a rigid substantial manner. Nails shall be in the proper size and care shall be taken so as not split the
wood members. All dimensions shall be verified on the site before fabricating the Metal furrung framing joinery items.

ELECTRICAL WORKS
The electrical installation shall be done in accordance with the approved plans and specifications under the direct
supervision of Master Electrician. The electrical wiring shall be installed properly as specified in the plans with PVC electrical conduit
and fittings.
TILE WORKS
This items all tiles to be used is based on plans and specification. Each piece should be free from chipped
off corners, serrated edges or other defects. The tiles must be set in place accurately with 20mm ( ¾’’ ) thick cement mortar
for floors and 12mm ( ½’’ ) for walls in the comfort room. Before the tiles are laid in place, they shall be thoroughly soaked in
water if recommended by the manufacturer and mortar to be used in setting the tiles shall be a mixture of 1 part of cement
and 2 parts of cement by volume.
The work consist of furnishing all materials, labor and performing all operations in connection with tile
finishing of floors and walls, complete including mortar beds for the tile. Tile work shall not be started on portions where
embedded lines crossed over the area until roughing-ins for plumbing and electrical work has been completed and tested.
The work of all other trades in the areas where the work is to be done shall be protected from damage in a workmanship
manner as directed by the Project Engineer.
