child abuse is not only about yelling at them or not just about black eyes . while physically
abuse is more inhuman act due to the marks it leaves . Ignoring a child’s needs , putting them in
unsupervised , dangerous situation, exposing them sexual situation or making them feel
worthless or stupid are also forms of child abuse and neglect can leave a deep lasting scars on
kids.
Neglect may include inadequate health care, education ,supervision, protection from hazards in
the environment and unmet basic needs such as clothing and food .Neglect is the most
common form of child abuse.
Psychological abuse includes verbal abuse, humiliation and acts that scare or terrorize a child,
which may result in future psychological illness of the child.
Lack of trust and relationship difficulties, this can lead to difficulty maintaining relationships in
adulthood. It can also lead to unhealthy relationships because the adult doesn’t know what a
good relationship is
Core feelings of being worthless , it is difficult to overcome these core feeling , as they grow up,
abused children may neglect their education or settle for low paying job because they don’t
believe they are worth more . Sexual abuse survivor with the stigma and shame surrounding
the abuse often struggle with a feelings of being damaged.
Trouble regulating emotions , abuse children cannot express their emotion safely the emtion
gets stuffed down, coming out in unexpected ways . Adult survivors of child abuse can struggle
with unexplained anxiety, depression or anger, this may lead to alcohol or drugs to numb out
the pain feelings.
Alcohol and drugs abuse ,parents who are drunk may be unable to care for their children,
making good parenting decision or control often dangerous impulses. Substance abuse can also
lead to physical abuse.
Stress and lack of support , parents can be a very time intensive , stressful job, especially raising
children without support from family and friends or dealing with relationships problems or
financial difficulties . caring for a child with a disability , special needs or difficult behaviour is
also a challenging , its important to get support needed so it will be helpful in supporting the
child emotionally and physically
Negative parents-child interaction and perception , this indicate poor mood regulation , limited
ability to manage emotions and great frustration all of which escalate the risk of child abuse.
Other risk factors for child maltreatment include child separation from parents, maternal
alienation, low parental warmth and difficult child temperament. Particularly among fathers,
poor parent-child relationship also predict child maltreatment and domestic violence.
Child abuse is a violation of the basic human rights of a child and it is the out coming of a set of
interrelated familiar, social , psychological and economic factors . The problem of child abuse
and human rights violation is one of the most critical matter on the International Human Right
agenda. CAN is define by the World Health Organization as “Every kind of physical , sexual,
emotional abuse , neglect or negligent treatment , commercial or other exploitation resulting in
actual or potential harm to the child’s health , survival , development or dignity in the context
of a relationship of responsibility , trust or power.”
