Where can we begin? There are countless armed conflicts around the
world, and the global population of displaced people is higher than ever.
The opportunities are nearly limitless, but the cycles of violence and
hardship seem endless.
My advice is to start small but think big. I look to Rotary members in Pakistan and India for
inspiration. In March 2020, about 50 Rotary members from Pakistan met about 50 Rotary
members from India at Kartarpur Sahib, a shrine in Pakistan. The sanctuary honors Guru
Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, a religion practiced in both countries. Tensions between the
two countries barred many religious pilgrims from India from visiting the shrine. That is, until
Pakistan opened a visa-free pathway to them in 2019. Earlier this year, Rotary members
from opposite sides of the border again met at the shrine, this time with about twice as
many participants. Any work toward building peace needs to be brave and bold. What these
Rotary members have done is just that. The Pakistani government took an important step
toward peace when it admitted Indian pilgrims to the Kartarpur Sahib shrine, but Pakistani
Rotary members took the next step when they welcomed Rotary members from India as
friends and family. That is Positive Peace at work.
These peacebuilders did not stop there. Club representatives at this year’s meeting signed
twin club certificates to recognize their long-term commitment to continue to learn from
each other and to work together on more peacebuilding efforts, and they have held joint
meetings via video chat. The importance of communicating with and learning from another
culture cannot be overstated, and Rotary is making it even easier to do so. One way of
engaging in cross-cultural dialogue and building relationships across borders is through
virtual international exchanges that build on our current programs and make them more
accessible.
A virtual exchange uses online platforms to connect people from different parts of the world
so they can share their traditions, priorities, values, and more. Virtual exchanges can serve as
a window to another part of the world through activities such as teaching a digital cooking
class, learning a new language, or even designing service projects with a global impact. These
online chats have the potential to inspire new connections and more respect between
societies. Taking that knowledge and using it to better the lives of our fellow human beings is
the next step.
Warmest Regards,

MID-TOWNER’S
APTITUDE
Everyone has a chapter in their life that they will never forget in their
lifetime. For me, that moment would be of my early school days from
where the journey of my education started. The first day of my school
was marked by a little bit of nervousness and a lot of excitement,
introduced me to many new friends and teachers who left an incredible
mark on my life. From doing homework in class to coming sweaty in a
classroom after break time and standing outside of the classroom with
my idiot friends was the thing that made me remember my school days
till now. I vividly remember those victories in sports, dancing with my
Jagadish Khanal crush on the annual school play, and group discussions during
examinations as my happy moments. Through my ups and downs, school
Guest
life shaped my character teaching me flexibility and persistence. From
crying for not going to school to crying for those moments life has
changed. As I look back, I am grateful for all those days and want to go
back to that time when the only problem in life was to finish homework
not to compete against the world. Thank you.

MID-TOWNER’S

I also remember my school teachers who always used to encourage me, believed in my
potential, and made learning a joy.During my school time, I always participated in school
plays, debates, and sports competitions, and the memories of that time are treasures of
my life. School days were the golden days of my life. I wish I could return to my school
days. If I could, I would start my life again from my school days with my buddies and enjoy
my life to the fullest.”

The best memory I had of my school life was the “picnic day”. I had the
best memory with my friends and teachers at the picnic at Nunthar in
class 9.As we all know everything or every moment can’t be expressed
in words in the same way the feelings and excitement to go to the picnic
with collogue were the same for me because I was not sure about being
part of that picnic but unfortunately I became part of a picnic, can’t be
Puja Rauniyar expressed in words but the happiness in my friends face was
(Guest) unforgettable for me for coming me on picnic. We went to Nunthar
which was an amazing place in Sarlahi. We went on the bus and had fun,
dancing with friends and teachers on the bus. After some hours we
reached the picnic spot and went to the different exciting places, a
waterfall, and a suspension bridge. I was very scared of that bridge but
with the support and love from my friends, I lost that fear as well. We
had some photo click though we didnt have a good quality camera so
we captured all the moment in our mind which became the memory for
today.
We had our food at last and again had fun and danced with the music DJ and returned to
our home at night. Overall this picnic made memorable as that was my first picnic with my
schoolmates which made ur to get close with each other and know each of them
The memories of our school days often hold a special place in my heart, a time when we
were not just students but young adventurers in the world of knowledge and friendship. My
school - Mother Teresa
Public School, was the stage for a significant part of my early life, where I shared countless
moments with three wonderful friends – Neha, Archana, and Mona. Mother Teresa Public
School, with its incredible and vibrant atmosphere, was a place of both learning and
enjoyment. Each school day was a new opportunity to explore the corridors of knowledge,
and it was also the backdrop for our adventures in friendship. Neha, Archana, Mona, and I
were inseparable. We navigated the ups and downs of adolescence together, supporting one
another through the challenges of homework, exams, and teenage dilemmas.
Our school days were marked by various milestones, from our
first day in kindergarten to the bittersweet farewell of our high
school (SEE Graduation). Together, we navigated the challenges
and celebrated our achievements. The memories of those days
are like a treasure where we shared laughter, tears, and
unforgettable moments. My school days at Mother Teresa Public
School were not just about textbooks and exams; they were
about the friendships that illuminated my path. Neha, Archana, Monisha Kumari Yadav
and Mona were more than just friends;they were my (Guest)
companions in the beautiful journey of growing up. The lessons
we learned and the memories we created together continue to
be a source of joy and inspiration in our lives, reminding us of the
special bond we shared during those formative years.
