 Amazing Ice Age Animals
REPORT FORM TEACHING NOTES
Students research Ice Age animals and then fill in simple forms to create reports.

Supplies: Toby and the Ice Giants by Joe Lillington (recommended), Ice Age
animal books and/or other source materials, pencils, colored pencils or crayons

W hile Toby and the Ice Giants by Joe Lillington is not required to use the following report
forms, the forms were designed to complement the book. Individualized report forms
for only the Ice Age animals pictured at the back of the book are included in this resource.
However, a blank form is also provided for each report level. These may be used for all other
Ice Age animals.

Level 1: Students use the guide at the end of Toby and the Ice Giants to choose Ice Age
animals that Toby didn’t meet that they would like to learn more about. Next, they research
the animals. Then, students draw pictures of the animals, including their habitats and things
they ate. Then, they fill in the two statistics. Finally, students write true sentences about the
animals on the lines.

Level 2: Students use the guide at the end of Toby and the Ice Giants to choose Ice Age
animals that Toby didn’t meet that they would like to learn more about. Next, they research
the animals. Then, students draw pictures of the animals and fill in the statistics. Finally,
they write short reports about the animals on the lines.

More to Do: Use the poster of Toby to create a bulletin board or wall display with your
students’ reports.
