1. Considering what l've learned, some argue that there is no Philippine hero, including Jose
Rizal. While he sacrificed himself for Philippine democracy, critics point to certain criteria that
contradict his designation as a national hero. These critics argue that Rizal's elite background and
absence of direct involvement in armed rebellion may not align with traditional notions of a
revolutionary hero. Furthermore, debates have arisen over the extent of his revolutionary impact
due to his approach of peaceful reform through education and his call for assimilation with
Spanish culture. 2. If given the chance to set criteria for a national hero, I would propose that he
or she should be someone willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. I choose this
criterion because not everyone is willing to die for the freedom of others.

Well, there's a lot that I could say. But the most crucial aspect of being a hero in Philippine
society is not to be afraid to stand up for what you believe in and your principles. That way,
people will have the chance to watch you work for change from the sidelines rather than taking
them on from within. Sadly, it's taken far too long for people with this trait to take a step forward,
but when they do, it can change everything and not just in our small country but around the
world.
