ACTUATOR, FLAP — OIL COOLER AIR OUTLET − ADJUSTMENT/TEST

TASK 79−21−31−710−801
Operational Test of the Air−Cooled Oil Cooler Flap Door Actuator
1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows is for the operational test of the air−cooled oil cooler flap
door actuator (written as the “actuator” in this procedure). The actuator is installed at the rear of
the engine firewall. This procedure is applicable to the left nacelle and the right nacelle.

3. Job Set−Up
Subtask 79−21−31−861−001

A. Energize the electrical system (Refer to TASK 24−00−00−861−801 ).

4. Procedure

Refer to Figure 501.


A. Do the operational test of the actuator (1) as follows:
NOTE: The actuator (1) controls the movement of the ACOC air outlet flap (2). To do the
operational test of the actuator (1), it is necessary to do a check of the travel of the
ACOC air outlet flap (2).
(1) Do a check of the travel of the ACOC air outlet flap (2) as follows:
(a) In the wardrobe, on the maintenance panel, set the CDS GND MAINT switch to the
ON position.
(b) In the flight compartment, on the aft centre console, set either ARCDU selector switch
to the ON position.
(c) Push the MAINT key on the ARCDU. The CDS main menu will be shown on the
ARCDU display after two seconds.

(d) Select the menu items that follow as they show on the ARCDU:
• OTHER SYSTEMS
• EMU
• POWERPLANT MAIN
• POWERPLANT INTERFACE
• ACOC FLAP DOOR AND EJECTOR STATUS
(e) Move the control lock lever to the OFF position.
(f) Move the power lever assembly to RATING detent.
(g) Make sure that both condition levers are at FUEL OFF.
(h) In the wardrobe, on the maintenance panel, set the MAINT DISC switch to the ON
position to simulate a main oil temperature (MOT) of 75°C. Make sure that:
1. The Engine Display (ED) on the Primary Flight Displays (PFD) shows an MOT of
75°C.
2. The outlet flap is fully closed.
(i) On the Engine Control Panel, push the RDC TOP RESET button to simulate an MOT
of 107°C. Make sure that:
• The ED shows an MOT of 107°C.
• The outlet flap moves smoothly to the fully open position.
(j) Press the RDC TOP DEC button on the Engine Control Panel again and again.
NOTE: Each time the button is pressed simulates a fall in MOT of 2°C.
(k) Make sure that the air outlet flap (2) closes in increments as the oil temperature
decreases through 93°C, 89°C, and 85°C. Make sure that the travel is smooth.
(l) In the wardrobe, on the maintenance panel, set the MAINT DISC switch to the OFF
position.
(m) In the wardrobe, on the maintenance panel, set the CDS GND MAINT switch to the
OFF position.
(n) Move the power lever assembly to DISC detent.
(o) Move the control lock lever to the ON position.

5. Close Out
