Introduction
The present work of field is made up of five groups of exercises which are: introducing
oneself to someone (is composed of fourteen exercises that are recommended to turn the
underlined words into personal information); group 2 is based on filling the blank
spaces with following verbs in the present simple which are: are and am ; the third
group is also based on filling the gaps but with the following verbs: is, are and am. The
fourth group is based on finding out classmates birthday by asking the following
question: when is your birthday? The fifth group is based on matching the dates on
ordinal versus cardinal number.

General objective
 Use verb to be in present simple.

Specific objectives
 Count in ordinal and cardinal numbers;
 Do all the days of the week and months of the year.

Meeting for the first time
1. Look at the following sentences David uses to introduce himself to someone
for the first time. Change the underlined words to make sentences about
yourself.

Hi, my name is Olga I’m from Ile.

I’m 35years old. I like to watch movies and listening to songs. I’m studying Portuguese.

(a) Hi, my name is Olga. What’s your name?

(b) My name is Lurdes. (a) Nice to meet you Lurdes. (b) Nice to meet you too. (shake
hands). Where are you from?

(a) I’m from Ile, how about you?

(b) I’m from Beira. What do you study?

(a) I study Portuguese, how about you?

(b) I study Mathmatics. (a) How old are you?

(a) I’m 35. I like singing songs. What do you like?

(b) I like playing volleyball and swimming.

Conclusion
It is through this research work that I noticed one of the use of verb to be and the use of
numbers (cardinal and ordinal). The present work of field helped me much concerning
on the language skills which are: writing and reading, so I improved much these skills,
from this I want to address my appreciation to lecturer for having given me this research
work, moreover it is very important for me on my work field, because English is one of
the most spoken language around the world.
