APTRANSCO
A Substation receives electrical power from generating stations via incoming transmission line and
delivers electrical power through feeders and this is used for controlling the power on different routes.
220/132/33KV Brandix sub-station under control of ''APTRANSCO" receives incoming supply of 220KV
from 400KV Kalapaka and is stepped down to 132KV & 33KV and is transmitted through feeders.
Substation are integral part of power system and forms important part of transmission and
distribution network of electrical power system. Their main function is to receive energy transmitted at
high voltage from the generating stations, reduce the voltage to a value appropriate for local
distribution and provide facilities for switching some Substation are simply switching Substations
different connections between various transmission lines are made, others are converting Substations
which either converting AC into DC (or) vice versa, or convert frequency from higher to lower or vice
versa. The various circuits are joined together through this components to a bus bar at Substations.
Basically, Substation consists of power transformers, circuit breakers, relays, isolators, earthing
switches, current transformers, voltage transformers, capacitor banks etc. This training covers the
important equipments & their function in a Substation and also an attempt is made to cover the general
maintanence of Substation and checks the observations to be made by shift engineer.
