General Information

You must install an SAP Bundle Patch in your Oracle database to ensure that the database is working
properly. From a security and functional perspective you should always install the latest SBP (best practice)
which contains the most current security fixes for the Oracle database and functional patches for an SAP
Oracle database.

OLTP compression. Recommended actions: Follow SAP HotNews 2719005 , released
April April 03, 2020: Implement workaround to avoid new corruptions: ALTER SYSTEM SET
17, 202002 "_OLTP_COMPRESS_DBG"=1 SCOPE=BOTH; SAP Note 1171650 Automated Oracle
2020 DB parameter check already includes this recommendation as of April 03, 2020. Check for
existing corruptions as outlined in SAP Note 2787869 Alternative Analyze (AlAn) and fix
them
Released SBP 201805V2 for AIX only as SBP 201805 included a bad patch for CBO
July AIX Merge 27921805 which was missing some _fix_control bug numbers in
04, 201805 v$system_fix_control, leading to an ORA-02097 when trying to use ALTER SYSTEM SET
2018 only "_FIX_CONTROL" . Recommended actions: Download SBP 201805V2 and use that to
update your system.

SAP Bundle Patch Installation Instructions

1. Go to SAP Software Download Center Oracle Patches Download Area, 'Oracle Patches 12.2.0.1' and
open the platform folder for your platform.
2. Download the SAP Bundle Patch with the highest patch level - GIRU Patch file (ZIP), SBP Patch file
(ZIP), SBP OPatch Patch file (ZIP), SBP README file (HTM), SBP BUGSFIXED file (HTM) - to your
database server.
3. To install the SAP Bundle Patch follow the instructions of the SAP Bundle Patch README (SBP
README).
- Update the OPatch and MOPatch utilities to the versions required by the SBP README.
- Use MOPatch to install the SAP Bundle Patch as described in the SBP README.
- In particular note the patch-specific installation and post-installation instructions in the SBP README.

Note: It is not supported to use OPatch directly to install an SBP or parts of it, except where explicitly stated.

Installation Instructions for Database Patches for Windows

1. Go to Oracle Patches Download Area on SAP Software Download Center.

2. Go to 'Oracle Patches 12.2.0.1' and open the platform folder for Windows.
3. Download the Bundle Patch with the highest patch level <PL> to your database server
(PATCHBUNDLE<release>P_<YY><MM>-<ID>.ZIP).
4. Download all generic patches from this folder to your database server.
5. To install the bundle patch with OPatch follow the instructions of the Bundle Patch README.
6. To install the generic patch(es) with OPatch follow the instructions given below.

Note: If you need a newer OPatch version to install the Bundle Patch you find this version on SWDC in folder
'#OS independent' (see SAP Note 839182).
