Beth's cable cardi comes in sizes from 3 months to 1 year but I suggest you rely on the chest measurement rather
than the age, and adapt the lenght of the sleeves and of the body according to your child's measures.
Beth's cable cardi has a garter band on the front with buttons. Buttonholes are on the left side of the cardi seen
from front (female standard buttonholes) so these are knitted at the end of the row since you are knitting from top
down.

3 months: chest 42cm, sleeve 14cm, length 25cm
6 months: chest 44cm, sleeve 18cm, length 29cm
9 months: chest 47cm, sleeve 22cm, length 33cm
12 months: chest 50cm, sleeve 25cm, length 37cm

Place markers before and after the cables as you go.
R4 and all even rows: k4, purl the purls sts and knit the TORSO
knit sts, k4 Buttonholes
R5 increase row and cable (take as example for the (Row count starts again from R1 below, so you have to
other cable-rows): k8 (11-11-13), *kf&b, 1st cable, knit these buttonholes at the indicated rows, counting
kf&b, k7 (7-7-8), kf&b, 2nd cable, kf&b*, k8 (12-12-16), from row 1 of the torso)

SLEEVES
Transfer the sts of the sleeve from spare yarn to a
circular needle and pick up 3 sts from under the arm.
There is a sideways loop at the edge of each side of the
work: pick up the closest to the right needle*, pick up
through the stitch underneath the arm that sits
between the two sides, and then the other loop.
Check your gauge! Could be different when you use
straight or circular needles. Use Magic loop method for

R1 (right side): (remove all markers as you go) knit to Knit all for 33 (43, 53, 63) rounds, decreasing every 4
one st before the cable, kf&b. *P1, put 4 sts on cable (5, 7, 8)th round for a total of 8 times.
holder on front , p1, knit the sts on cable holder. Put Decrease: k1, k2tog, knit to 3 sts from the end, ssk, k1
the sts of the sleeve on a spare yarn. Put 1 st on cable
holder on back, k4 pulling your yarn very well, purl the
st on cable holder, p1*. Kf&b, knit across the sts of the
back, kf&b before the cable. Repeat *-*for the other
cables and sleeve. Kf&b, knit to end.
The cable is now *2 purl sts, 8 knit sts, 2 purl sts* (no
more increases before and after the cables)
R2-4: k4, purl the purls sts and knit the knit sts, k4
R5: *knit to before the purl sts, p2, C2F, C2B, p2*,
repeat once, knit to end.
R6-10: k4, purl the purls sts and knit the knit sts, k4
