1. OBJEK / TEMPAT PENELITIAN

This research conducted at the 11th students of SMA NEGERI 4 Jayapura

2. LATAR BELAKANG MASALAH

E-Learning is any teaching and learning that uses electronic suite (LAN, WAN, or
Internet) to convey learning content, interaction, or guidance. There are also those who
interpret E-Learning as a form of distance education carried out via the internet media. The
use of E-Learning as a medium for managing learning during the COVID-19 pandemic is
very suitable to be applied. The use of E-Learning as a medium for managing learning only
requires a little procedural knowledge in operating E-Learning.
Teaching strategies is generalized plan a lesson or a lesson which includes structure,
desire learner behavior, in terms of the goals of instruction, and an outline of tactics
necessary to implement the strategy. (strasser,1964). Strategies often expect student to
develop their reading skill by absorption and without help. In the absorption approach, it is
believed that if a teacher teaching reading comprehension to the target language all day they
will improve their reading comprehension. However, this research in proven to be
ineffective since the student also find difficulties reading comprehension.
This finding indicates that teachers need to be equipped by strategies in teaching
reading comprehension in order to help the students to cope with the difficulties in learning
English reading. In line with the previous explanation that reading comprehension is
necessary in language teaching. Teachers are confronting some problems in the process of
reading comprehension. There are many teachers taught about reading comprehension by
explaining about the text, main idea, and purpose of the text.

3. RUMUSAN MASALAH
1. What were the strategies of English teacher in teaching reading comprehension in e-
learning classes at the at the 11th grades students of SMA NEGERI 4 Jayapura ?
2. How did the English teacher implement the strategies in teaching reading
comprehension in e-learning classes at the 11th grades students of SMA NEGERI 4
Jayapura ?

4. TUJUAN PENELITIAN

1. To find out the English teacher strategies in teaching reading comprehension used in
e-learning classes at the 11th grades students of SMA NEGERI 4 Jayapura
2. To describe the implement of English teacher’ strategies in teaching reading
comprehension in e-learning classes at the11th grades students of SMA NEGERI 4
Jayapura.

5. PENELITIAN TERKAIT
1. (Yesicha Audina, dkk , 2020) conducted a research under the tittle “An Analysis of
Teacher’s Strategies in Teaching Reading Comprehension in SMK Dharma bakti
1 Medan”

This study was raised due to problems in learning reading. The researchers saw
that teachers and students experience constraints in the learning process. The
problem is when students do not understand the content of the reading because
students only learn to translate word by word and do not understand the contents of
the reading. The purpose of research is to know the strategies used by English
teachers and the reasons why did the English teacher choose those strategies to
teach English reading comprehension and describe the application using the
strategies chosen by English teachers in reading understanding learning.
This research is used with research objects of English teachers. The location of
this research was at SMK Dharma Bakti 1, Medan. The methodof the research was
qualitative research. The Instruments of thisresearch wereobservations and
interviews. The results of this study using the strategy of DirectedReading
Activity(DRA). DRA is a strategy used to expand and strengthen students’ reading
skills. In short this strategy guides students to get informationfrom a text read. So
that in its implementation students can more easily understand the text of connecting
the various student knowledge that students have.
2. (Murdi, 2017) conducted a research under the tittle : “Teacher’s Strategies In
Teaching ReadingComprehension At Grade Ten Of Sman 7 Mataram Academic
Year 2017/2018”
This study attempts to investigate the strategies used by the English teachers to
teach reading comprehension in the first grade students at SMAN 7 Mataram, and the
advantages of using those strategies. The data in the present study were collected
through observation and interview. Descriptive design was used as the design of the
study. The result of the present study reveals that the teacher commonly applies two
strategies in teaching reading
3. (Siti Nurhamidah, dkk, 2018 ) conducted a research under the tittle : “The Analysis
Of Teachers’ Strategies In Teaching Reading Comprehension At Sman 2 Padang
Bolak”
This research was taken based on fact of the teachers’ problems in teaching
reading comprehension. The researcher identified many problems, as seen that there
are many teachers who did not know how to teach English, especially in teaching
reading comprehension. In this research, the researcher wanted to find out about the
teachers’ strategies in teaching reading comprehension and the teachers’ problems in
teaching reading comprehension at SMAN 2 Padang Bolak.
The instrument for collecting the data the researcher used interview and
observation. The researcher analyzed the data: Managing, involves creating and
organizing data collected during the study; Reading, involves reading the field notes,
transcripts, memos, and observes comments to get a sense of the data; Classifying, is
ordering field notes or transcription into categories that represent different aspect
of data; Interpreting data by identifying and abstracting important understanding
from the detail and complexity of the data.

This research conducted at the 10th students of SMA NEGERI 4 Jayapura

2. LATAR BELAKANG MASALAH

At school, writing is one of the materials that must be learned by all students.
Each student is expected to produce a brief and well-organized paragraph. For this
reason, all students in the writing classroom usually are asked to write simple texts, such
as narrative, recount, descriptive, procedure, discussion, review, spoof and expository, as
their writing exercises. In the new curriculum, K-2013, the students are expected to write
a precise and composed texts in every writing task.

Descriptive text is one of the required writing topics in Senior High School. The
aim of the text is to describe people, things and places. Descriptive text has certain
components, such as generic structure and lexicogrammatical. According to Gerot &
Wignell (1994), generic structure has two aspects, those are identification and
description. In identification, the student will indentify and inform the reader about the
thing which will be described. In addition, as part of description aspect, the students will
describecharacter of things, place or people, such as shapes, sizes, and colour (Rosa,
2008)

5. PENELITIAN TERKAIT
1. (Puri Eka Yoandita,2019) conducted a research under the tittle : “An Analysis Of
Students’ Ability And Difficulties In Writing Descriptive Text”

This research focused on the students’ ability and difficulties in writing descriptive
text. Even though descriptive text is not too difficult, but many students still found it
difficult. The aims of the research are to know the ability of students in writing
descriptive text, to know the difficulties of students in writing descriptive text, and to
know how the teacher teaches descriptive text.
This is a qualitative research. In collecting the data, the researcher used text analysis,
observation and questionnaire. The components of writing that are analyzed are
developing the ideas, organizing of ideas, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation. The
results of this study illustrate that student faced difficulties in organizing and developing
ideas. They were not able to develop ideas on the texts they wrote. Whereas, in term of
grammar there was no significant difficulty, they can write descriptive text by using the
correct grammar.
2. (Afza Himmaturrijal Ismail, 2018) conducted a research under the tittle : “An Analysis
Of Students’ Ability In Writing Descriptive Text: A Case Study Of The Eight Grade
Students Of Smpn 2 Selong In The Acadaemic Year 2017-2018”.

This study was not only aimed at investigating the students‟ writing ability, but it
was also aimed at finding out the students‟ strength and weakness which would be
classified into five levels of classifications: excelent, good, average, fair, and poor. Based
on the analysis result, the total score of the entire students was 1797 in which the mean
score was 54, the mode was 31, and the median was 50, in which it belonged to the
average level classification. In this case, there were 1or 3% students belonging to the
excelent level.
The research investigated on the decriptive writing text which had been done by the
eight grade students of SMPN 2 Selong. This research used descriptive quantitative
research to design the data.The researcher analysed the students‟writing result referring
to the five aspects. They were organization idea, developed idea, grammar, vocabulary,
and mechanics.
3. (Yusri Apriani Margaretha Turnip,dkk, 2019) conducted a research under the tittle : “An
Analysis Of Students’ Ability In Writing Descriptive Texts”.
The research was conducted aiming to an analysis of students’ ability in writing
descriptive texts at the second grade SMP Swasta Talitakum medan”. The method used
in this research is qualitative method.
This research was conducted at the second grade focus on generic structure,
characteristics, vocabulary. From the data analysis of 23 students, 43.48% of students
had a low writing ability category, 34.78% had a medium writing ability, and
21.73% had a high writing ability category.

1. OBJEK / TEMPAT PENELITIAN

This research conducted at the second semester students of English Education study program
IAIN Fattahul Muluk Papua

2. LATAR BELAKANG MASALAH

Anxiety could make impact to students‟ learning. It means that if the students have low
anxiety, they will be more success on acquiring English. The factors which can increase to
speak incorrectly and cause an acute sense of anxiety are the lack of vocabularies, improper
grammar, and fears of mistakes. Moreover, the very limited chance to practice can be the
causes of being not confidence, shyness, and silence that impede a natural communication.
Generally, speaking is a way to build a communication. It is used to share meaning
through the use of words. Speaking is one of important aspects in human life process and
also a crucial part of second language learning and teaching. It is a process that involves two
or more people of sending and receiving message or information in oral communication to
speak and express their ideas, feeling, and emotion to others. Therefore, speaking has
received the greatest attention among both students and teachers. To sum up, speaking is the
way we say things depending on the situation to send message which allow speaker to
investigate their thoughts and feeling about a topic.

1. What kinds of anxiety were experienced by the students in speaking English at the
second semester students of English Education study program IAIN Fattahul Muluk
Papua?
2. What factors that caused the Students‟ Anxiety in Speaking English at the second
semester students of English Education study program IAIN Fattahul Muluk Papua?

3. TUJUAN PENELITIAN
1. To find out kinds of anxiety were experienced by the students in speaking English at
the second semester students of English Education study program IAIN Fattahul
Muluk Papua.
2. To find out the factors caused the Students‟ Anxiety in Speaking English at the second
semester students of English Education study program IAIN Fattahul Muluk Papua.

4. PENELITIAN TERKAIT

1. (Siti Kurniawanti B, 2017 ) conducted a research under the tittle : “A Study of


Anxiety in Speaking Class of The Second Semester Students in English Education
Department at UIN Alauddin Makassar”.

This study was about the anxiety in Speaking Class for the Second Semester
Students of English Education Department at UIN Alauddin Makasar. This research
described the level of students’ speaking anxiety in speaking class.
The study was designed in quantitative descriptive method. The populations of
this research were the second semester students of English Education Department in
Academic year 2016-2017 which consisted of 117 students. The sample of this
research were 90 students which taken by using random sampling which consisted of
45 students from PBI 1-2 and 45 students from PBI 3-4. The data were collected
using PSCAS (Public Speaking Class Anxiety Scale) questionnaire. The
questionnaire distributed after the speaking class had conducted. The result was
analyzed using PSCAS procedure and then researcher presented the data description
in percentage, chart and table.
2. (Rumiyati, dkk, 2018) conducted a research under the tittle : “Anxiety Of Speaking
English In English Foreign Language (EFL) Class.”

This study aims to investigate the classification level of speaking anxiety, the
factors of student’s anxiety in speaking class and the impacts of anxiety in students
speaking performance. This study employed case study design.
There were two types of data, i.e. qualitative data and quantitative data. The
result of the research showed that EFL students generally were anxious in speaking
English. 39 students have high anxiety, the factors of students anxiety includes three
aspects such as communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative
evaluation. Consequently, it affects students speaking performance.
3. (ATI SAIDATUL ULA, 2016) conducted a research under the tittle : “An Analysis
Of Speaking Anxiety In The Production Of English In Speaking Class.”
This study is intended to know the level of students‟ anxiety and figure out how
the students‟ speaking ability can be described from their anxiety level. The subject
of this research, the researcher takes a class of 2nd semester students of International
Class Program (KKI) of IAIN Salatiga in the academic year 2015/2016. This
research used a descriptive quantitative approach. The writer used two kinds of
instruments to collect the data. The first instrument is Foreign Language Classroom
Anxiety Scale questionnaire, developed by Horwitz et al. (1986). It consists of 33
items with 5 point Likert-Scale.
The second instrument is the final score from speaking test. The result of this
research show that most of the students are at “Mildly Anxious” level with no “Very
Anxious” student. There are 5 (29%) students who experience “Anxious” level, 9
(53%) students are in “Mildly Anxious” level, 2 (12%) students have “Relaxed”
level, and only 1 (6%) student from 17 students is in “Very Relaxed” level. This
research also gives a description that; anxious students are not necessarily having low
score, and mildly anxious students might not always have good score.
