Foetal Echo

The fetal echocardiography screening found the fetus to have normal structure and function of the heart. No masses, cardiomyopathy or structural anomalies were seen. A repeat fetal echo was suggested if further concerns arise and a postnatal echo SOS. The report cautions that some disorders may be difficult to diagnose with antenatal echo.

REPORT OF FOETAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY (SCREENING)

FINDINGS :
Standard 4 chamber view : Normal atrioventricular and ventriculo-arterial concordance.
Aorta is originated from posteriorly placed LV. Pulmonary
artery from anteriorly placed RV.
IVS and IAS : Intact.
Foramen ovale : Present – conspicuous.
AV valves : Bicuspid mitral and tricuspid valves moving asynchronously.
‘Off-set’ cross is present.
Aortic and pulmonary valve : Tri-leaflet aorta
Aortic – mitral continuity present.
Pulmonary valve mobility normal.
Atrial chambers : Normal.
Ventricles : Good contractions. FHR = 140 bpm.
Pulmonary veins : At least 2 imaged to drain in LA.
IVC and SVC : Connected / draining into morphological RA.
Hepatic veins are draining into IVC.
Arch and duct : Ductal arch is difficult to image.
Aortic arch seems to be normal in flow and diameter as is
descending aorta.
Coronaries : Originating from aorta.

No mass PE or evidence of cardiomyopathy.

IMPRESSION : No structural anomaly.

SUGGESTION : Repeat fetal echo if further concern and post natal echo S.O.S.

Caution / Note : Antenatal echocardiograph has got over 80% accuracy. Predictive value increased in
repeat scan. Some disorders like stenotic lesions, coarctation and cardiomyopathies
are difficult to diagnose as are small septal defects and PAPVC / TAPVC.
