Funding The scheme envisages the development of four thousand Mega Watt hours of BESS projects by 2030-31, with the financial support of up to 40 percent of the capital cost as budgetary support. It has an initial outlay of about 9,400 crore rupees including budgetary support of 3,760 crore rupees.

It has increased the rural tap connection coverage from only 3.23 cr households at the start of the Mission in August 2019 to 13 cr in 4 years. 6 States namely Goa, Telangana, Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh) and 3 UTs have reported 100% coverage.
