Extreme Food in Indonesia

Indonesia is a country filled with delicious and unique foods! But did you know they also
have some dishes that might seem a little... strange to outsiders? These are called "extreme
foods." Imagine this: instead of chicken nuggets, you might be offered deep-fried
grasshoppers for a snack! They're crunchy and a bit salty, kind of like potato chips. In some
parts of Indonesia, you might even see bat satay (skewers) or grilled rats on the menu.
These might sound scary, but people who try them say they taste surprisingly good!
Don't worry, there are plenty of non-extreme options too. Indonesia is famous for its
flavorful curries, rice dishes, and fresh noodles. There are also all kinds of delicious fruits to
try, like the bright orange mangosteen or the spiky durian, known for its strong smell. So, if
you're ever visiting Indonesia, be adventurous and try some new things! You might discover
your next favorite food, even if it looks a little unusual at first. But if you're not feeling brave
enough for extreme foods, there are still plenty of delicious and familiar options to enjoy.
