MATERIALS &TOOLS
• Yarn: dark blue, light blue, medium blue & yellow (**less than
one skein of each** Caron Simply Soft “Light Country Blue”,
Red Heart Soft “Lemon”, “Royal Blue” & “Turquoise”)
• Crochet hook (any size; consistent throughout pattern)
• Polyester stuffing
• Scissors
• Sewing needle
• Stitch marker
• A small amount of black embroidery floss or black thread
• Felt or wool: dark blue & white
• Needle felting tool (if needle felting) or glue/thread (if using felt)
• Optional: craft wire or pipe cleaner

ABBREVIATIONS
Sc – single crochet
Hdc – half double crochet
Slst – slip stitch
Inc – increase (2 single crochet stitches in one stitch)
Dec – decrease
Ch – chain, followed by a number indicating the number of chains to make

37. sc 6 (or however many you need), then pick out 3 stitches of the medium blue from round 8.
Put your hook through the side of the first stitch from round 8 & through the top of the next
stitch from round 36.
Wrap the yarn over & pull through both & complete the sc stitch. Do this two more times to
help secure the tail. Sc 6 (or however many you need) to complete the round (15)
38-42. sc around (15) – continue stuffing
43. sc 6 (or however many you need), then p ick out 3 stitches of the medium blue from round
11 or 12 (where ever your tail lines up better).
Put your hook through the side of the first stitch & through the top of the next stitch from
round 42.
Wrap the yarn over & pull through both & complete the sc stitch. Do this two more times to
help secure the tail. Sc 6 (or however many you need) to complete the round. Your tail should
be fully secured now & you shouldn’t have to curl it to sew it. (15)
44-46. sc around (15) – add stuffing

1. Start by leaving a tail to sew to the hand, then chain 5,


join to first stitch with slip stitch + sc in the same stitch &

FEET

1. Start by leaving a tail to sew to the foot, then chain 5, join to first stitch with slip stitch + sc in
the same stitch & sc around (5)

Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew to the body.

ASSEMBLY
• Sew the body to the head, add stuffing to the body as you go.
• Sew the face mask to the head. The last row should line up with the top of the body.
• Sew the belly patch to the body.
• Sew the fin to the top of the head.
• Sew the front of the fin to the fin.
• Sew the tail to the back of the body. It should help balance the Sobble so he sits.
• Sew the arms to the hands.
• Sew the arms to each side of the body. You can add craft wire or pipe cleaner inside of
them if you want them to bend.
• Sew the legs to the feet.

• Sew the feet to the body. You can add craft wire or pipe cleaner inside of them if you
want them to bend. If not, you should fold the ‘knee’ on the leg and sew it together.
• If using felt: using a picture of Sobble as a reference, cut two ovals out of white for the
eyes. Cut two smaller ovals out of dark blue for the irises. Cut two small circles & two
small ovals out of white for the eyes (or use acrylic paint over the felt). Cut two more
ovals out of dark blue for the cheeks. Glue or sew the pieces down – the eyes should
slightly overlap the cheeks.
If needle felting: using a picture of Sobble as a reference, create the eyes using white.
Add a smaller oval in dark blue inside each eye for the irises. Create a small circle & oval
out of white in each eye (inside the dark blue). Create two ovals in dark blue for the
cheeks.
• Using black embroidery floss or thread, embroider the mouth as a frown & two nostrils.

CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR SOBBLE IS FINISHED!
