2 Compatibility
CLINIVIEW™ 11 Database migration tools are supported only on Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating
systems. The CLINIVIEW source database folder may need to be moved to a workstation which meets
these requirements.

This release is compatible with the following software:

• Databases created using CLINIVIEW 10.X
• DTX Studio Core 3.10.x and later
• DTX Studio Database Migration 3.10.x and later
NOTICE! Use of this tool requires the above software. Do not use with other versions.

3 Configure the source database

3 Configure the source database

After upgrading the software from CLINIVIEW 10.X, data must be migrated from the original source
database to the DTX Studio Core database. Migration from CLINIVIEW 9.X and earlier is not supported in
this release.
CAUTION! Before you start the upgrade, back up the database and images.

CAUTION! After upgrading from an older version, existing images may appear different due to
changes in image filters compared to previous version.
CAUTION! After upgrading from an older version, image default settings may have changed. New
acquired images may appear different compared to the previous version.
CAUTION! Image archives created using an older version of the software cannot be restored to
this version of the software. If access to archived images is required, the archived images must
be restored to the source database prior to migration.
NOTICE! CLINIVIEW 11 does not support Volumetric Tomography (VT) images. If your existing
database contains VT images they will not be migrated.
NOTICE! The Google Chrome web browser must be installed to use the HTML-based database
migration tools. Download and install Google Chrome prior to starting database migration:
https://www.google.com/chrome/. Google Chrome must be set as the default browser to
proceed with these instructions.
NOTICE! The disk space on the target server needs to be checked before starting the migration.
At a minimum, it is recommended that you have at least as much free disk space as the combined
size of the DATA folder and database files, plus an additional 25-50% free space.
NOTICE! User accounts created in CLINIVIEW 10.X are not migrated to DTX Studio Core. You can
create new user accounts in Core Manager for each user as needed.
NOTICE! User created and custom FMS templates need to be re-created.

NOTICE! Migration from databases created using ADBI is not supported.

NOTICE! Migration Services are not installed by default. Migration Services must be installed
on the computer that contains the source database to be migrated. Migration Services can be
installed from the CLINIVIEW Advanced section of the software installer or from the \Tools
\Migration folder on the installation media by running CLINIVIEWMigrationSetup.exe.
1. Install Migration Services on the computer where the original source database is installed.
2. Launch Migration Server from the desktop icon or Start menu after installation is completed. The
Migration Services web page will open in Chrome.
3. For a standard installation, select the Use default credentials checkbox and leave the Username
and Password fields empty. Otherwise, enter existing Username and Password to connect to the
old database.

4. Click Test configuration button.

3 Configure the source database

5. If any configuration errors are displayed, resolve the issues until no errors are shown.
NOTICE! Warnings are optional.

6. Click Run under Database Preflight Health Check tool on the Migration Services web page. The
source database will be checked for known issues that may cause the migration to fail or be
incomplete.

7. Click Run Health Check button in the Migration Health Check window. Skipping media file
validation will speed up the Health Check but it will not check for valid images.

8. For a standard installation, select the Use default credentials checkbox and leave the Username
and Password fields empty.

9. Click Verify to check the credentials used to access the source database.
10. When the source database connection verification is successful, click the Health Check button to
start the process of checking the database for issues.

NOTICE! This may take several minutes to complete, especially if media file validation is
performed. The progress will be displayed.

3 Configure the source database

11. If the Health Check tool finds any known issues in the source database, you can fix them or find
more details by double-clicking each error. Follow the onscreen instructions to fix each error
before continuing with database migration.
NOTICE! If the Health Check tool finds mis-match errors between XML and SQL database for
Patient ID (PMS), First Name and Last Name, no action is needed from the user if the values in
SQL DB are correct. Migration uses the values from SQL database.

12. Close the Health Check tool once all fixes are completed using the X button in the upper right
corner of the Health Check window.
13. The health check has now completed and the browser window can be closed. Continue the
migration using DTX Studio Core Manager.

4 Start migration in Core Manager

4 Start migration in Core Manager

1. Launch Core Manager using the desktop icon.
2. Login to DTX Studio Core Manager with an administrator user account.
3. Select Configuration.

NOTICE! If you receive a Not Secure or Privacy error in Google Chrome, click the Advanced
button and then click the proceed link at the bottom of the page in order to continue.
5. Select the original source database from the dropdown menu on the left under Source database
and enter the DTX Studio Core administrator user account credentials on right side under
Destination database.

NOTICE! In some cases, the source database is not detected automatically. In this case click

NOTICE! The source database will be identified by the computer hostname where the
database is installed.
6. Click Continue.

CLINIVIEW™ 11 9
4 Start migration in Core Manager

7. Select a schedule when the migration should occur. You can select the date range of patients to be
migrated, the default is Acquired last 18 months.
Synchronize patients means that new patients and updated existing patients will be migrated
automatically outside of the activation schedule. If this is disabled new patients will be migrated
only during the next scheduled time.
Also include patient data means that new and updated images will also be migrated outside the
migration schedule. Enabling this option can significantly increase the load on the DTX Studio Core
server. If this option is disabled new images will be migrated only during the next scheduled time.

NOTICE! Scheduled migration will use up to 100% of the available CPU resources. Schedule
the migration to occur during non-working hours to avoid disruption.
NOTICE! If migrated data will be used with CLINIVIEW 11, change the selection to All. If
migrated data will be used with DTX Studio Clinic, you may select any of the available
options.
NOTICE! Selecting All will require much more time to complete the migration if the database
is very large.
NOTICE! If another selection than All was used during migration to CLINIVIEW 11 and desired
older images are missing in the software (“Loading image” is displayed in the image browser
for missing images), you can change the selection to All to migrate the missing images
during the next scheduled migration.

4 Start migration in Core Manager

8. Click Continue to start migration. Migration will start based on the selected schedule. The
migration status can be checked by opening Migration control center from Core Manager at any
time.

9. Migration is completed when the status shown in the Migration control center is Databases in
sync.

NOTICE! Check that all patients have been migrated from the source database and that no
alerts are shown in the Problem log or General alerts tabs.
