**Me: Hi there! It's great to meet you finally. My name is Nam, and I just joined the
company last week.
**Officer: Hi Nam! Welcome to the team. I'm Ly. So, tell me a bit about yourself.
**Me: Sure! I'm originally from Phu Tho Province but moved here for this job
opportunity. I studied computer in college and have been working in software
development for the past three years. Outside of work, I really enjoy a variety of
hobbies.
**Officer: That sounds interesting. What kind of hobbies are you into?
**Me: I have quite a few! I love hiking and being outdoors, which is perfect because
there are so many great trails around here. I'm also really into photography—
especially landscape photography. When I'm indoors, I like reading science fiction
novels and playing the guitar.
**Officer: Those are some great hobbies! How do you find the time for all of them?
**Me: It can be a bit challenging, but I think having hobbies is important. They help
me relax and recharge, which ultimately makes me more productive at work. Plus,
hobbies can teach you new skills and provide a sense of accomplishment.
**Officer: That's true. But don't you find it hard to balance hobbies with work
sometimes?
**Me: Definitely. That's one of the disadvantages. Sometimes I feel like there aren't
enough hours in the day. It can also be expensive to maintain some hobbies, especially
photography with all the gear. However, I try to prioritize and manage my time
effectively. It’s been great talking with you, Ly. I'm looking forward to working with
you.

You and your friend are preparing a presentation on the detailed information
of a university. You have to select and include some necessary information in
your project. You should talk about:
● the name of the university
● the reasons to present the school
● the conditions and facilities of the school
● school activities
Talk to your partner(s) for 3-4 minutes (in pairs) or 5-6 minutes (in a group of 3)
Imagine that you are in the supermarket to get some food and drinks. You see
your friend by chance when he/she goes to the same supermarket. Talk about
what kind(s) of food and drinks both of you want to buy.
You should talk about:
Food and drinks you are buying
The way(s) you make food/drink choices (e.g. taste, nutrition, price…)
Examples of foods and drinks that are good and bad for your health
Talk to your partner(s) for 3-4 minutes (in pairs) or 5-6 minutes (in a group of 3)
**Me:** Hey! Fancy seeing you here. How have you been?
**Friend:** Hey! I'm good, just doing some grocery shopping. What about you?
**Me:** Same here. I’m picking up ingredients for a stir-fry—vegetables, tofu, and
noodles. What are you shopping for?
**Friend:** I’m getting stuff for a barbecue this weekend—chicken, vegetables for
grilling, and snacks. And some drinks.
**Me:** Nice! I usually go for sparkling water or fresh juice, trying to avoid sugary
sodas. How about you?
**Friend:** I’m getting some soda and a few craft beers. Not the healthiest, but it’s
for a barbecue.
**Me:** Balance is key. I choose foods based on taste, nutrition, and price. What’s
your approach?
**Friend:** Similar. I look for deals but pay attention to nutrition labels. Fresh
vegetables over canned, whole grain over white bread.
**Me:** Smart. I’m also grabbing some fruits like apples and berries—better than
cookies or chips, though I love chips!
**Friend:** Same. I’m getting veggies for grilling and a bag of chips for the party.
Moderation is important.
**Me:** Definitely. For unhealthy choices, sugary cereals, fast food, and too many
sweets are my weak spots.
**Friend:** Agreed. Processed meats and sugary drinks are my limits. Balance and
variety are key.
**Me:** Absolutely. Well, I better finish shopping. Great running into you!
**Friend:** You too! Good luck with your stir-fry. Maybe see you at the barbecue!
**Me:** Sounds good. See you then!

Your school allows students to choose a beautiful spot to visit. You and your
friend are excited but not sure where to go.
You should talk about:
● Where to visit?
● What activities to do there?
● What to bring?
● What problems may happen during the trip?
● Others
Talk to your partner(s) for 3-4 minutes (in pairs) or 5-6 minutes (in a group of 3)
**Me:** Hey, did you hear that our school is letting us choose a place to visit for our
trip?
**Friend:** Yeah, I heard! I'm so excited. Do you have any ideas on where we should
go?
**Me:** I was thinking about visiting Ha Long Bay. It's such a beautiful and iconic
place. What do you think?
**Friend:** That sounds amazing! We could go kayaking, swimming, and explore the
caves. Plus, the scenery would be incredible.
**Me:** Definitely. We should bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, and a first-
aid kit. Comfortable shoes are a must too.
**Friend:** Good point. We'll also need a map or a guidebook, just to be safe. What
about a camera to capture the scenery?
**Me:** Absolutely, a camera is a great idea. As for problems, we need to be prepared
for the weather, as it can rain unexpectedly.
**Friend:** And we should be careful when swimming and kayaking. It’s important
to follow the local guidelines and stay safe.
**Me:** Right. We should also plan our route carefully to avoid getting lost. Do you
think we need to consider any other spots?
**Friend:** We could, but Ha Long Bay seems perfect. It's educational and fun. We
just need to make sure everyone is okay with the travel time.
**Me:** True. Let's suggest it to the group and see what they think. I'm sure they'll
love the idea.
**Friend:** Sounds like a plan. I'm already looking forward to it!
**Me:** Me too! Let's get started on our proposal.
